There are many social problems that exist in the world today, which includes but do not limits to self-identity and racism. However, they somehow go unnoticed because at times people conform to what society thinks is the way to live. After viewing the movie Crash, in my opinion, the movie targets on going social problems that are constantly being swept under the rug to this present day. I deem Crash a race movie because it forces the audience to question their own moral values.
The movie Crash gives perfect examples as to how racial discrimination and racial profiling are being portrayed. People discriminate against others due to their physical appearance or race. It is lead to believe that black men are gang bangers, drug dealers, killers, etc, because that is the stereotype place upon them. Not to mention, statistics states that most men that are incarcerated are blacks; consequently, due to this statistic it is hard for black men to steer away from these ongoing stereotypes.
On the contrary, discrimination not only occurs from different races but by people of the same race. ...a drug dealer because of his appearance, but unbeknownst to her he was a good hardworking man trying to take care of his family. This goes to show that people judge others by their appearance because of what society put out instead of paying attention to their own recognition of other.
In conclusion, Crash entails similar problems that people are often faced with and is successful in showing the different social problems at hand. People have their own way of viewing things that are often broadcast on television. It is up to that person conjurer up their own ideas about the way they see themselves in society today. Society has a big effect on the way people live their lives. Therefore, it somehow changes your way of thinking about certain things, some things are placed right in front of people but they somehow become oblivious to them because it because the norm.
