Do you think lockers should be in classrooms or hallways? Having lockers in the hallway may seem foolish to some, but there are numerous reasons why lockers in the hallway will benefit students. High school and middle schools should have lockers in the hallways, instead of in classrooms.
To begin, lockers should be put in hallways because, in some schools, space in classrooms are limited. For example, in California space is limited as well (Director of Loss Control). It is a good idea is too put lockers in the hallways. This will make more space in the classrooms for the teachers, whether they need more shelves to organize, desks, or etc. They would have fewer worries about having everything cluttered. According to the website hats, coat, and more are stored in lockers, if the children do not keep the lockers organized the classroom make look unorganized (Syracuse Arts Academy).

As people walk to their next class, they might drop everything. For example, a lot of people drop their books in the hallway on accident because it's too heavy. So, if they're next to their locker they can drop them off. If they do this, fewer people will be marked tardy in class. Studies show 37.6 percent of students in the United States of America are marked tardy (National Center of Education Statistics). If we put all lockers in the hallway this would be less likely. School is a perfect example of structure. Almost every school consist of the same thing which is desks and a board to demonstrate the lesson. All the desk are facing one way so that the children have a more likely chance to pay attention to the instructor and Proper room arrangement provides predictability in students, which has a calming effect I presume. When students are better able to understand their environment and anticipate what is coming next, they tend to be less apprehensive. First, allowing students to carry backpacks throughout the school day would save everyone time. Since backpacks have multiple compartments, they allow students to carry learning materials like textbooks, calculators, binders, and writing utensils. Students can use backpacks to transport laptops inside dedicated sleeves. As a result, students would waste less time at their lockers searching through debris for assignments and missing homework. Teachers, too, will welcome backpacks when they no longer have to squander valuable minutes writing locker passes. Less locker stops will reduce hallway congestion, expediting travel between classes. Without wasting the teacher’s precious minutes, students can get a drink of water, go to the bathroom, or take care of personal hygiene needs. . Even custodians will appreciate the practicality of backpacks when they are no longer interrupted from their busy jobs to unjam a muddled locker because of cumbersome coats and binders.

In a homework assignment i did for intro to law i had to ask a student what rule they wanted to change and a lot of students overheard about 15 and said the tardy policy because it takes away from are learning.This tardy Policy affects everyone. Some students that know that they will be late rather not show up because they rather not get the 30 min detention. As a student many classmates have done this , they like school but they don't want to serve a detention during or after school. Teachers are instructed to close the doors as soon as the bells ring and if you don't make it on time that's your “fault” , then what happens is you'll just stay outside of class waiting till the staff pass by to sweep you up and take you to your
One of the problems our school has with school safety are the entry procedures. Currently, the doors are always locked unless there is an event outside such as a field day. In order to get into the school, a person would have to press the buzzer so Mrs. Lindbergh could see them before she admitted them. Chances are if you had a paper bag that looked like a lunch bag, nobody would check it and you could drop it off in the office without anybody knowing what was inside. This could be a tactic for hiding weapons, and should be investigated further because of that.
These students seem to have either the neatest or the messiest desks or lockers in the school. The one with the messiest desk will need your help in frequent cleanups of the desk or locker so that he can find things. Simply remember that he is probably not making a conscious choice to be messy. He is most likely incapable of this organizational task without specific training. Attempt to train him in organizational skills using small, specific steps.
Dress codes have been an issue lately in some schools. Most kids are against it but I believe that there should be dress codes in all schools. This would be a good idea because it would reduce violence and bullying, eliminate the problem of wearing hats or jackets and they are less expensive.
All schools that have locker searches let the students know that it is policy if the student isn't hiding anything then there shouldn't be an issue. 77% of most kids would be happier and 55% would learn more if schools where safer. Keeping kids safe is what it's all about; no one is talking about strip searches, it's just open you locker, open your bag and be on your way. American public schools are not safe, and need to have greater security measures to ensure the students safety; our country should not have to live through another Columbine.
“The biggest drawback to a school locker search is the lack of trust students may feel as a result of actions they see as an invasion of privacy,” is what Dennis Hartman had to say on the matter. For instance, if a student had harmful things in their locker, it’d be easier to find and confiscate them. This would prevent a potentially dangerous situation, and the student would face proper consequences. Whilst I agree that locker searches could definitely potentially keep schools safer, I still believe that there are better ways to enforce safety than going through a student’s possessions, which could be mentally damaging.
In this day and age where school administrators consider backpacks, lockers, and baggy pants to be potential dangers to students and faculty, what will be next? Perhaps pencils, pens, scissors, and glue will be added to the list of items to ban from schools. These, along with other hazardous educational necessities pose real threats to maintaining an orderly school and should be prohibited.
We all know the fourth amendment. It states that we have the right to our own privacy, it protects us from illegal searches, and keeps us from being randomly placed in jail without reason.“It begins by declaring that the “right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.”(Rohde). According to the constitution, schools don’t have the right to search students’ lockers, because it violates the rights of the average student.

If I can have respect for my students as well as having them respecting each other, I believe this leads to a safe environment where learning can take place. I am not a stickler for gum chewing or eating and drinking as long as it does not interfere with learning and doesn’t make a mess. I would like to give my kids the freedom to eat or drink as long as they are responsible for their trash and mess. If it gets out of control, I will let them know that the privilege will be taken away, right from the beginning. I would enforce no hats on inside the building or classroom because not only can they be a major distraction, but it is not polite to have a hat on inside. Many teachers believe classrooms are too small. Many teachers and students believe classrooms are not big enough. If students are working on a group activity that takes up a lot of space will have to do activity in the hallway. If students are watching a film for class will have to move or adjust because most likely students in the back of the classroom cannot see. Teachers may not have enough desks some students may end up sitting in a part of the room where it could be the size of a coat closet.
My classroom management starts with a well-organized, clearly labeled classroom layout so that my students can easily access the resources they need for my class. I display visual aids and reminders around the room to support the students and I display their work in specific places around the room to give them a sense of belonging. I create routines and procedures to support the students and enable them to form smooth transitions between activities. There is a certain way they enter and leave the classroom, distribute books and papers, and move their desks and chairs. In my classroom these mundane tasks are completed quickly, competitively, and with enthusiasm. Having routines in place helps students understand exactly what is expected of them and gives them confidence in their actions.
