Confidence can be defined in many ways. To some people confidence is feeling good or loving yourself. To others it may be being positive all the time. Confidence is when you’re completely at peace with who you are in every interaction, moment and experience. When you make no apologies for being awkward, excited, nervous or other...you’re just being you. Many may wonder, “How can you be awkward yet, still be confident?” The answer to that question is different for everyone. A girl walking up to a boy she’s been crushing on for weeks accidently trips yet, confidently brushes herself off and continues walking up to the boy as if nothing ever happened. In a blog written by Stephenie Zamora titled, “What is Confidence, Really?” talks about what confidence may be too many people. Stephanie wrote, “I learned that confidence really comes down to one incredibly simple thing. Owning it.” Just like the girl who falls right in front of her crush, she owned her clumsiness. Although it might have been awkward to fall, she confidently got up and owned it while making no apologies for it. …show more content…

To be confident is to feel or show certainty about something. As a leader, you need to be confident because you need to be able to take risks and opportunities. There is a quote that says “Confidence comes not from always being right, but from not fearing to be wrong”. If you don’t take risks, then you might miss a great opportunity. Many great leaders have exemplified confidence from thousands of years ago and also today.
Too much confidence can cause a sense of arrogance, much like Odysseus. Not enough confidence can make you uninspiring and weak as a leader, much like David. People who live their own monomyth everyday, and have the right amount of confidence, achieve great things.

Ever since I was in middle school, people always told me that I’m quiet and shy. Having said that, I never felt comfortable communicating with people I didn't know that well. That also includes speaking or presenting in front of a class. According to my family and friends, I’m the complete opposite, because they claim that I’m talkative. Being shy and nervous did affect my schoolwork. I wouldn’t raise my hand in class that often, because I didn’t feel comfortable enough. When I was in 6th grade, my teacher would always call up students to share something they liked about a story they read. When the teacher called out my name, my heart started pounding, my hands were shaking and my mind went completely blank. I was so nervous to the point where I felt like I was going to pass out any moment. That’s when I asked the teacher if I could excuse myself to go to the bathroom. She didn’t mind that request so I tried to calm myself down by washing my face and breathing. After class, my teacher and I discussed my inability to present in front of a class. She was obliging, because she agreed to help me overcome being shy and to help boost my self-confidence. Shyness and nervousness also stopped me from participating in activities and obtaining opportunities. In 10th grade, my Chemistry teacher suggested a film festival, because she was aware that I loved filmmaking. At first, I considered the idea, because I’ve never done anything like it before. Having thought about it, I then realized that I was going to have my movie up on a full screen where
Popular music’s worth tend to be determined according to values of authenticity, truthfulness, and no concern for commercial success. Thus, artists who perform their own songs are critically acclaimed and recognized as better than performers whose material is written by others. However, there is a grey area of sampling and covering. Many artists who do a lot of sampling, in particular DJ Danger Mouse and Kaye West, are not only critically acclaimed, but also can be credited to changing musical history. Sampling greatly complicates the black and white rules of authenticity, and rightly so.
Think of all the things that need to happen for you to feel confident? Are those things in your control? If not then you have unrealistic definition and need to be more realistic. Skepticism is one of the first steps on the road to open, creative and critical thinking that young people should take in their lives. The course in skepticism in high school will allow students to have positive effects on their intellectual level, ethical standings, physical conditions and psychological status. In the Webster's online dictionary, self-confidence is defined as confidence in oneself and in one's powers and abilities. A famous quote by Jim Loehr says, "With confidence, you can reach truly amazing heights; Without confidence, even the simplest accomplishments are beyond your grasp." Confidence in yourself does not come without effort. One must believe in themselves, and not let someone change their beliefs. In the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Jane shows self-confidence throughout the novel, by possessing a sense of self-worth, dignity, and a trust in God.
Spirit of self shows self confidence. Kallie Stovall Mrs. Pierce English 1113 21 October 2014 Trust Trust, what is trust? Why do we require trust in our lives today? Did trust come from nature or was it by nurture? As the Reviews in History tells its readers, “Trust is one of the most pervasive – and perhaps for that reason least noticed – aspects of social life. We need it in order to live at all.”
One of the especially definitive qualities of a mature person is their ability to balance confidence and humility. It is very important to feel confident in one's self, but it becomes difficult to be confident without being cocky. In Tim Elmore's article, "The Marks of Maturity," he explains that "mature people can receive compliments or criticism without letting it...sway them into a distorted view of themselves. They are secure in their identity." The idea of being confident and "secure in their identity" is an excellent start for how to balance confidence and humility, but there's a little more to it. A mature person will also be
What is trust? Is trust essential for the way we live our everyday life? Trust is a quality or condition of being trustworthy; loyal; reliable. I think trust is an essential way of life because you cannot make a relationship, friendship, a business, or an organization if there is no foundation. Part of that foundation is trust and loyalty because you should be able to depend, rely, and trust others that they will do exactly what is right for them and you. Trust can be broken so quick, it is scary, because once trust is broken it is a lot harder to gain back then when you first gained trust in someone. This relates to my life because my trust with my dad was alerted going into my freshman year.
Now in life there are many things you do on your own and it is hard because you might not have the best confidence. This situation happens a lot to me because I am not the best with self-confidence, but I have always had confidence others. In life you will always have those friends that you will trust and can tell them anything. For example, who you do not like; who you have a crush on; what your past way like; and what you want your future, adult life, to be like. Confidence is divided in to two sections, mental and physical. Physical confidence is shown when you are trying to run a 4:50 pace for the one mile. You have to be confident that your body is stronger than it really is. This is where the mental confidence comes in to help support your physical confidence. Your brain needs to tell your body that it has more than it does. My confidence to that is strong, but when it comes to talking to people my confidence gets pushed away. My mental confidence is telling my body that you do not know...
