During his 16-year journey from school to Undergrad, a student is in the process of finding what he loves doing; his passion. By the time he is done with his Bachelors, with enough maturity and experience, he is clear with what he is good at. With information, banking, shopping, e-commerce, ticket booking and many other utilities just a few clicks away, it is an undeniable fact the mankind is embracing the marvels of computers and the internet like never before. A major exodus has already begun towards the digital age where in almost every possible real world activity is digitized. It feels exciting and proud to be living during this glorious era of technological renaissance. I consider it an honor to be part of this digital ecosystem which is being made. With almost everything being online and our cyber security being so low this can cause a major problem for anyone using the internet. Low cyber security can bring down large organizations and ruin countries this has become a problem that many software engineers have and are still trying to solve in order for this to not become an unfixable problem.
The use of computer technology has revolutionized many parts of today’s society. Everywhere one looks there is the use of computers. In most cases, computers are extremely beneficial to many people in various occupations and even in their personal lives. In one way or another, the use of computer technology can be linked to almost every occupation in the world.
In my opinion, advancements in computers will benefit the world more than any other field;that technology, with its vast scope and countless usages, will play a pivotal role in most of the new inventions. In the last two years, I have explored various topics and their applications in computer science, which fascinates me. Technology amazed me, even when I was a child. The growth and advances in information system technology nowadays have lead to the sharing of data and information in variety of digital or electronic form such as newspaper online, e-journal, video, images and many more. This happens because of the existence internet and technology that used by almost everyone around the world. The technology makes it possible for people to access valuable information through millions of websites that have been produced by people who are willing or intend to share the knowledge. The technology also allows people to communicate with one another by sharing the digital information through email, instant messaging or in social networking medium.
I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. These courses have given me a good foundation in the core concepts. My interest lies in Database Management, Programming Languages, Theory of Computation, and Software Engineering. I am fully acquainted with the fast growing subjects like Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design. On the other hand, the intensive laboratory classes exposed me to a fascinating world of experimentation. It was here that I discovered the qualities of perseverance and diligence in myself. I feel that these courses have done a lot to prepare me for my future studies and research work.
The emergence of computers in today’s society has completed revamped lives across the globe. Even at home, computers are opening a whole new world to individuals. Even small children have grasped this phenomenon and have learned to “surf” the web. Personally, computers have made my life 110 percent easier and efficient. Almost every paper, project, or any type of school work requires that I use a computer in some way in order to complete the work. Apart from work, the computer also lets me entertain myself with music, websites, and varies other programs. In the workplace, computers have made business a thing of beauty with easy and smooth money transactions and fast communication between companies. Although computers are making worker’s lives easier, there are 3 problems that maybe encountered in the future: lower skilled workers maybe phased out, companies can easily replace individual workers, and workplace surveillance may rise considerably.
