The novel “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck , is about these two men who travel together for work. The setting of this novel is taken place during the great depression. John Steinbeck wrote 27 books in his lifetime. His books are widely read abroad and many of his works are considered classics of Western Literature. His work mainly focuses on exploring themes such as fate, and injustice. It is not right to kill animals or humans without their consent. The main character of this novel is George. George is the more of a mature man, Lennie is a bit different but that’s okay. When Lennie likes something he has the urge to want to touch it. One day there was this beautiful lady who was wearing a red dress, Lennie loved the dress. When he tried to touch it the lady got scared and ran. So George and Lennie fled. He liked them because he had something to cuddle and love. When Lennie loved something he really loved it. Slim gave a baby dog to Lennie. One day when all the farm workers were playing horseshoes Lennie was playing with his baby puppy in the barn. While in the barn Lennie was holding the puppy and he started to hold it too tight and the puppy started to suffocate. When Lennie realized that he accidently killed the puppy he was so hurt. He didn’t mean to hurt the puppy he only wanted to hold him. Then Curley's wife walked into the barn and started to talk to Lennie. Lennie was afraid that Curley's wife would tell the boys. George told Lennie “ If you harm this pup then you will not get to take care of the rabbits on our farm.” So George was scared because he wanted to care for the rabbits. (Steinbeck 100 - 107) So when Curley’s wife found the dead pup she started to make Lennie scared and the only way Lennie reacted was to be mad.
