Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a tragic story about star-crossed lovers, two young teens who fall in love with each other but are forced to hide their love for each other because of their families’ feud. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare tries to convey the idea that sometimes your own family can force you in a way to commit mistakes. The feud between the families is to blame for the tragic outcome of Romeo and Juliet because it causes Romeo and Juliet to hide their love, they were forced to rush into marriage to end the feud, it also causes them to kill themselves.

One of the reasons the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues is to blame for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet is because it forced them to hide their love. When Romeo and Juliet met at first they didn't know what family each belonged to and fell in love with each other but once they found out they knew they had to hide their love. Juliet tells Romeo “...The orchard walls are high and hard to climb, And the place death, considering who thou art If any of my kinsmen find thee here” (2.2.62-65). He says “For this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households rancor to pure love”(2.3.87-88). This shows that even Friar Lawrence thought that their marriage would end the feud between the two
