A man can become a monster by doing horrible things that he knows is wrong, but still decides to carry it out anyway. Today we usually see a monster as a fictional character or creature that is harmful or mean in nature. Frankenstein, published in 1818, by Mary Shelley, is about a selfish man named Victor Frankenstein who creates a monster, and ends up realizing that he himself is actually the monster. The Picture of Dorian Gray, published in 1890, by Oscar Wilde, is about a painter, named Basil, who draws a portrait of Dorian Gray, and the painting grows older while Dorian himself stays the same age. Hamlet is mad at the King and his mom, because they both did not care about his father’s death. They are being selfish to Hamlet and that is what set him off. King Hamlet’s ghost now appears to Hamlet’s friends, and call on him to come look. When “Hamlet grapples with what type of ghost he has seen – good or evil. He alludes to this internal struggle on more than one occasion,” because he is still weary of the ghost. The ghost does not come, but the second time they look for it, it comes and Hamlet ends up speaking to it. Since the ghost of old Hamlet has told Hamlet who has killed him”The ghost’s disclosures should have left no doubt in Hamlet’s mind that Claudius must be killed”, Hamlet, is going to make sure that he does whatever it takes to avenge his father's death(Frank N. Magill). The Ghost tells Hamlet that he is in purgatory and that he wants his son to avenge his death, but by doing that Hamlet would end up going to hell as well as King Hamlet himself.
