The Mayan, Aztec, and Incan civilizations were all advanced for their time. All of those civilizations had major accomplishments that impacted the technology and information we have today. The Mayan civilization flourished between A.D. 300 and A.D. 900 from the Yucatán in southern Mexico through much of Central America. Some of their achievements were in writing, mathematics, and architecture. The Mayans developed a system of writing through hieroglyphics. They used this system to communicate and share ideas in their culture. They also made advancements in mathematics. They were able to create an accurate 365-day calendar based solely off of studying the orbit of the planet Venus. Another place the achieved in was architecture. They were
The Aztec’s and the Inca’s have many similarities such as religious beliefs, and views about gods. Inca’s views about training for war are different, and the Aztec’s artifacts are somewhat different to. The farm land compared to the Inca’s is differs also, because where the Aztec’s lived the land was elevated about ten thousand feet.

Which includes modern day Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, and parts of southern Mexico. These people had many remarkable achievements, all of which can fit under the categories of scale, genius effort, and significance. In terms of agriculture, Moche and Mayan civilizations were similar in that they both had water management systems that would help them grow the crops more efficiently; however, since agricultural styles were dependent on the landscapes and the climate of the region, Moche and Mayan had different techniques of growing their crops, as well as irrigation system, which Moche had more complexed ones. Moche irrigation system was surely “complex...requiring constant maintenance, which funneled runoff from the Andes into fields,” since the Moche civilization contained thirteen river valleys and dynamic landscapes including the Andes mountains, that they required an extensive irrigation system. When it comes down to comparing and contrasting Native American and Spanish civilization, there is actually a variety of things that make each one stand out from one another. When looking into both the Natives and the Spanish there was more to be found different then there was to be similar in any way. Both societies struggled, but one did have more of an advantage which is why there was such conflict between the two.

The Incas are much more advanced. Labor specialization was common, especially in the large densely populated areas like Cuzco. The Incas made roads, irrigation channels, fortresses, and mines. They used crop rotation, terracing and other advanced agricultural methods. These civilizations had retainers and all had slaves, usually slaves from other villages that they had fought in wars.
The Mayan, Aztec, and Incan civilizations are what define Mesoamerica. All three civilizations were different sizes and had different systems on how they operated. I, personally, would have chosen the Incan civilization to live in. The Incan civilization was the largest out of the three civilizations. With more people, a lot more could get accomplished. Also, with more people came more knowledge, more knowledge led to a lot of new advancements and made for an awesome place to live. Furthermore, their culture was simple and peaceful. Hunger was not an issue within this civilization, as they learned ways to preserve their foods, such as potatoes, which would provide for a lot of people.
The Mayan, Aztecs, and Inca civilizations are all hierarchical societies. Due to them only having one person in charge, it could have affected their growth. There aren't as many places that have a dictatorship, are given too much power and it affects the whole civilization.
The Pre-Columbian America consisted of many Native American civilizations such as the Mayas, the Incas, Iroquoians, Algonquians, Cahokia etc., who were known for their agriculture, and architecture (temple topped pyramids, palaces, etc.). In the southern Americas, there were two noted civilizations with a steady growth in their communities namely The Mayas in the central part of America, and the Incas who were situated much further south. The Mayas flourished because of their works of art, their command of their rich language, and most importantly their very accurate mathematics and astronomy that was calculated till very recent times. Whereas, the Incas flourished in areas such as irrigated farms, enduring stone buildings, and stone roads
How did the Aztec and Inca civilisations live before the spanish conquest? Over hunting killed seven animal species in America, civilisations started to settle down and develop skills like growing crops for example maize and beans. This allowed the civilisation to live in larger numbers, for example “Tenochtitlan had a population of 200,000 whereas Spain had a population of 70,000. Aztecs lived in Tenochtitlan, which is modern day Mexico and Incas lived in the biggest American empire at the time which is modern day Peru. These civilisations were very complex and already had magnificent architecture, complex social structures and, religions and beliefs. (Saldais and smith Pg 5)” When the Spanish arrived, they found some of their techniques surprising
The Aztec’s and the Inca’s were the natives of modern day Mexico and South America. The Aztec’s were overthrown by a Spanish man named Hernan Cortes. The Inca’s were overthrown by another Spanish man named Pizzaro. The Spanish brought over diseases that killed off ninety percent of all native people. Even if the Natives were immune to the disease, they still would have been conquered by the Spanish.

The article only slightly shifted my view of ancient Babylonia. It is not incredibly shocking that Babylonians were better astronomers than Europeans because other “primitive” cultures have shown that they were extremely advanced in aspects of astronomy. Many times cultures are labeled as less advanced than Western cultures, because they have a different standard of living. Both the Aztecs and the Mayans had similar advanced ways to chart the stars that were much more exact and longstanding than European techniques. Europeans did not begin to seriously study astronomy till the age of exploration, because they did not find it to be a necessity like other cultures. I think it is very interesting that both European and Babylonian scholars discovered
Civilization as defined by Dictionary.com describes it as “an advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry, and government has been reached”, and/or “those people of nations that have reached such a state”. Both Mayans and Aztecs were civilized compared to the primitive hunter-gather cultures. While the Mayans and Aztecs had advantages, it did not have an egalitarian society, but more of a patriarchal society. Also unlike the foraging societies, beneficial aspects included were that civilizations had a growth of prosperity, and the building of cities, but did not have limited food supplies.
