English Protestants first arrived at a place called Plymouth, and then a decade later a much larger group began to arrive just north of Plymouth. These new peoples came in family groups, planning to create communities like the ones they left behind, but instead the wanted to base them off of protestant principles. After Columbus voyaged to west Indies, the Spanish soon established sugar plantations. They first used the natives to work their plantations, but they were soon greatly affected by diseases. When most of the Natives died, they then imported African slave labor remaking the population of the Caribbean. Traditions of government such as regulating land and water use was brought from Spain. The list goes on, showing the the AOC was ineffective, and that 's why the US soon realized that the articles were not working, and then the constitutional convention was held, where the articles were abandoned. In the Articles of Confederation, Congress could request states to pay taxes, but in the constitution, Congress can impose taxes on individuals. Also, in the AOC there was nothing to regulate interstate trade, but in the Constitution, there was regulation of trade. They were obviously very different, which may have been why the AOC failed and the Constitution
The New England and the Southern colonial settlements were united in several areas that created the opportunity for each group of colonies to grow. However, these groups of colonies took divergent paths when it came to the founders’ motives to settle the New World, the importance of religious and social orientation, economic approaches and political developments. These different approaches were ultimately successful beyond the early founders’ expectations.
The Chesapeake and New England regions were settled by people of English descent, but by 1700, they had become two distinctly different societies. They had evolved so differently, mainly because of the way that the settlers followed their religion, their way of conducting politics and demographics in the colonies. After the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus in 1492, the powerful Old World scrambled to colonize it. The three major nations involved in this were Spain, France, and England. Spain took more to the south in the Central American and Mexico areas while France went north in the Canada region. The English came to America and settled in both the New England and Chesapeake area. Although the people in these regions originated from the same area, the regions as a whole evolved into different societies because of the settlers’ purpose for coming to America and the obstacles faced in both nature and with the natives.
The Articles of Confederation, the perfect republican government, was not a perfect government. It was faulty and ineffective in providing a central government with tax revenue to pay off debts, which caused the discontent of mobs that the central government would fail to control. The Articles created a weak government that would be easily pushed around by its people and by foreign countries. The reliance on civic virtue was successful in organized land policies that spread republicanism ideals; however, it failed to aid the Congress of the Confederation in tax revenue and controlling mobocracy. The Articles of Confederation was ineffective and faulty with is roots planted solely in republicanism.
In an effort to limit the power of the national government, Congress created one without enough power to govern effectively, which led to serious national and international problems. One of the main weaknesses under the Articles of Confederation was its incapability to regulate trade and levy taxes. The states controlled all of their “cash flows.” Sometimes, the states were in debt because of tariff wars that they would engage in with one another.
Many of the New England colonists were white and the most prominent and religious families owned the best land. They had a system of self-government in these colonies which had representative town meetings across the colonies. The life expectancy of its citizens became longer than that of the Middle and Southern colonies because of the cooler climate they were accustomed to in Britain. The New England colonies were more industrialized and had built more towns than the others, causing the New England colonies social life to be more active than the other colonies and were centered around the towns. Many of the Southern colonists were primarily white and black, with the minority consisting of free men and women and the majority consisting of laborers and slaves.

But after this government was put to use, it was evident that it was not going to keep peace between the states.
