The differences between the movie and story of Call of the Wild are in the beginning of the movie John Thornton goes and visits Buck before Perrault comes and buys him. In the story John doesn’t come in the beginning Buck is just bought and sent to the Klondike. The men in the story walked up to the Klondike with supplies and horses and in the movie, it doesn't say how they got up there. While the men are going to the Klondike there is a dog in a cage barking who looked like Buck and John kept hearing him but didn’t know who it was coming from. On their way to the Klondike John sees a bloody horse where a guy has beaten him and John had to put him out of his misery. John Thornton also meets a new friend Charlie and they build a cabin together.
The point of view of Call of the Wild is a combination of Buck’s perspective and a human’s perspective on Buck’s situation in the human world. Most often, the perspective of the story is third-person in Buck’s point of view. This perspective enables the reader to feel what it's like to be a dog and to experience that point of view. In the Movie, “Ransom of Red Chief”, and in the book, there are some similarities and some differences. The first difference was Red Chief, or better known as Johnny. In the movie he was a small, blonde headed little boy, but in the story he was a small, red headed little boy with a bunch of freckles. In addition to that in the movie the kidnappers, bill and Sam, took red chief to the woods and set up camp, but in the book it states that they, bill, Sam, and red chief, slept in a cave and camped there. Last but not least was red chief. In the movie red chief also stole bill and Sam’s car and he also put a snake in bill’s bed, but in the story he did neither of those things.

Jon Krakauer’s “Into The Wild” depicts a Transcendental representation due to his appreciation of nature when leaving society, trusting his own instincts, and most importantly, the interconnection of Oversoul.

In the book John didn't find a man named charlie. In the movie John found a man named charlie. Within the book John died by Indians. Within the movie John didn't die by Indians.

The novel, The Call of the Wild, follows a four-year-old mixed Saint Bernard and Scottish shepherd, named Buck. In the beginning of the story, Buck lives in the home of Judge Miller, located at Santa Clara Valley, California. In Santa Clara, Buck lives a luxurious life. At the time of the story, gold is discovered in the North. With this discovery, the value of large dogs like Buck escalated dramatically. The dog’s value was due most to their ability to haul heavy sleds through the abundant snow. Unfortunately, Judge Miller’s servant, Manuel steals Buck to sell him to a band of dog-nappers to pay for his accumulating gambling debts. The ring of thieves that bought Buck is gaining a secure banking by trading the dog to northern executives. Buck, who has had an easy life so far, does not adapt well to the terrain as the other canines do. Buck does not easily tolerate the confinement and mistreatment of his new authority. Buck’s gains the misconception, which then is an aide that any man with a club is a dominator and must be obeyed.
A major theme in Jack London’s classic The Call of the Wild is adaptability is essential for survival because Buck goes from an easy life to a harsh environment. Adapting is a brief development that takes days to weeks compared to evolving which takes years and generations. By adapting, an animal or person could transfer from one environment to another. While all organisms can adapt, some individuals adapt better than others. In the book, Buck learns how to act, he reawakens dormant instincts and embraces the inner feral dog to survive the north.
The Call of the Wild, by Jack London, is a classic piece of American literature. The novel follows the life of a dog named Buck as his world changes and in turn forces him to become an entirely new dog. Cruel circumstances require Buck to lose his carefree attitude and somewhat peaceful outlook on life. Love then enters his life and causes him to see life through new eyes. In the end, however, he must choose between the master he loves or the wildness he belongs in.
The Call of the Wild, on the surface, is a story about Buck, a four- year old dog that is part Shepherd and part St. Bernard. More importantly, it is a naturalistic tale about the survival of the fittest in nature. A very evil-tempered and malicious man named Burton was trying to pick a fight with the tenderfoot at the bar, and John Thornton came in between the two men. Without warning, Burton struck Thornton across the face. Instantly Buck hurled himself into Burton. “Those who were looking on heard what was neither bark nor yelp, but a something which is best described as a roar, and they saw Buck’s body rise up in the air as he left the floor for Burton’s throat” (87). Buck had to be pried off of Burton, so he didn’t kill him. Buck almost killed a man who only punched Thornton. If Buck had no civilization in him like critics said, he wouldn’t have defended his master. It even said in the book, “But his reputation was made, and from that day his name spread through every camp in Alaska” (87). This reputation he made was, “If you set a finger on John Thornton and Buck was around, be ready to get your head ripped off”. The stories Remembering My Childhood on the Continent of Africa and Self-Discovery and the Danish Way of Life are easily comparable. The narrators of both stories write about a time in which they are experiencing a different culture. They also write about their yearnings for self-discovery through exotic experiences. The viewpoints, however, of each writer are at opposite ends of the spectrum. In Self-Discovery and the Danish Way of Life, the narrator writes about his international experiences while studying abroad in Denmark. Most modern fairytales are expected to have happy endings and be appropriate for children, nonetheless, in past centuries most were gruesome. Consequently, fairytales have been modified throughout time. The stories “Beauty and the Beast” by Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont and “The Summer and Winter Garden” by Jacob and Wilherm Grimm share similarities and differences. The two stories are distinct because of the peculiar year they have been written in. LePrince de Beaumont’s story is written in London of 1783 and Grimm’s in Germany of 1812. At the time, wealthy people in London, were educated and had nannies who would read to their children; whereas, in Germany, the Grimm brothers created their own interpretation into a short story. Because many high class parents in 18th century London would not be able to spend time with their children, nannies would read “Beauty and the Beast” to them since they were intended for children and considered appropriate. In “The Summer and Winter Garden,” the Grimm’s’ story was mostly based to entertain misbehaved children and teach them the valuable lesson that everyone should be treated with kindness. The Grimm brothers’ goal in rewriting this short story is to better children’s behavior which worked quite well. Since these stories have been re-written for children, it would be safe to say the reason why parents expose the two stories to their children is because they both portray the same moral: good things happen to good people. The two interpretations of “Beauty and the Beast,” although written in separate countries, share important similarities and differences even though the authors have different interpretations and came from different cultures.
