Communication is the two way of exchange the opinions, news and information by using writing, speech, or gestures including body language and facial reactions. Communication model is refers to the human communication process which means that human will involve in sending and receiving messages or transferring information from the sender to the receiver. As we can see that there are different forms of communication. There are two types of communication models which are linear communication and non-linear communication. (Fill, 2009), explain some ways of communication which is including the source, encoding, message decoding and receiver with some noise situation. But both of the linear can be really appear in the reality of the communication.
This is because it is a one way process of communication. When the sender send some information via radio or television the receiver will just accept it without given some respond and feedback. Actually, we have always practice this linear model in our reality life. As an example, some children will get in trouble with the parents, this is because the parents have the priority to raise their children, the parents will lecture them as they sit at there, and just listen. The children are not allowed to provide any feedback or response and all the children can do is just take it passively and some example is the military is an entity that uses linear communication to maximum because it informs the receiver but restricts the receiver from eliciting a response. A person who has a big position or status will definitely have the priority in ordering some task to the lowest position or status and the lowest position or status of the person will feel the
Physical context is about the environmental factors. The size, layout, temperature, and lightning of a space influence of a space will influence our communication encounter. As an example, a student who has to do a presentation in front of twenty colleagues at auditorium with the temperature of that room is below of zero degrees. The feeling is very cold and nervous because it presents some message in front of many people. So, it doesn’t matter of the size of the room, the temperature, or other environmental effect, it is important that to consider the role of physical context plays in our daily communication. While for the physiological context, it means the emotion and mental factors in a communication encounter. Emotion such as stress, depressed and anxiety will influence our communication. As an example, some of the students are arrange their own part in assignment, the leader have to combine it and check all the assignment have to be done in well, but then some of group member are like to delay their work and submit on late to the leader, this action will directly make the leader feel stress and anxiety because they have to make sure that the final assignment have to submit on the right
People communicate to express needs, wishes and preferences, to share ideas and information, to reassure, express emotions like fear, anger, pain, joy and love, getting to know each other, ask questions, share experience’s , gave instructions, share opinion, give encouragement. The nature of communication is very different dependent on the circumstances.
The type of communication McRaven uses is public communication because he is speaking to an audience. The model of communication is linear because McRaven is sending the message, and the audience is receiving it. McRaven encounters environmental noise from the audience throughout his speech. However,
When a message is verbal, I like to think of it as a physical phenomenon of sound waves
Windahl and Signitzer’s communication model states as follows: the process of communication begins with a sender/communicator, who transmits a message to a receiver through a channel or medium (Windahl & Signitzer 2009: 12). In this research, several communication problems have been identified. There are two types of communication problems, one concerns the lack or wrong type of communication, and the other one a problem that can be solved with communication (Windahl & Signitzer 2009: 41). The communication process of New Times has been categorised by Windahl and Signitzer’s communication model’s framework.
First of all, sender exits ideas in his or her mind and encodes the ideas as a message, then he needs to pass the messages to the receiver. The messages include different kinds of contents which are views, ideas, thoughts, information, and so on. However, effective communication needs to ensure that the message has been not only received but also clearly understood and this is relevant whether the communication is internal or external (The Times 100, 2011). As a result, the messages will be translated into a series of symbols which can be understood by the recipient. Then, messages will be delivered through an appropriate format or channel to receiver. Since different types of symbols have different types of transmission mode. Messages can be written as letters, memos and so on. And it may also be verbal. For instance, conversation, lectures , telephone and so forth. It can even be expressed through body movements, such as gestures, facial expressions, gestures, etc. Afte...
Communication is an essential process in an organization. Through this class, I have come to understand what is communication, the process of communicating, its significance in an organization and the different modern channels that an organization can employ to communicate to its clients. I have known that communication is the process of transfer of information from a sender to a receiver through a medium (Kinicki & Fugate 296). Through this class, I have also understood that communication can either be formal or informal. Additionally, communication can either be horizontal or vertical. Horizontal communication entails the transfer of information among people or entities on the
The PLO #1 is Understanding Communication Theories. It requires the student to demonstrate an understanding of at least one of the many theories in the communication field. For this PLO, I chose COMM 144F, Organizational Communication. I chose this course because this course deals with communication in organizations. Within the course, students are taught organizational communication theories that help the student interact within an organization. This course also enables students to learn about how an organization works and what problems it might face. It is a great way for students to learn about what goes on in an organization. The course allows students to learn how an organization works and how other people view organization as a whole. They also learn about the theories that
The communication process consists of a sender which is the person who is sending the message or idea, the message, which is what is being conveyed by the sender. Then there is encoding, encoding is when the sender puts the intended message into words, symbols or gestures known to both parties. How the message is passed from the sender to the receiver is called the channel. The receiver is the party the sender is transferring the message to. When the receiver gives feedback to the sender, communication is considered to be complete. Feedback is also what is used to determine the effectiveness of the communication.
Communication is how we make contact with others and it being understood. It involves people sending and receiving messages from one person to another. This could be from one person to another, over text, email or even a phone call.
Although the communication theorist has never come up with a single definition for communication but in general it refers to ‘’ the process of creating a meaningful understanding between two or more people’’ or when we think of communication in a complex manner, it refers to a cyclial and dynamic two way process that form basis of human behavior. This behavior is related to relay information, enhance relationship or in context of organization activities it can be refered as a way to marketing, managing and decision making etc.
Communication is derived from the Latin word known as communis which carried the meaning “to share”, which mean sharing of concepts, ideas, feelings, and emotions. Communication is a two-way process where it requires an exchange of and progression of ideas towards a goal. It is essential to identify the basic elements of communication in order for this process to materialize. The five basic elements of communication are sender, receiver, message, medium and feedback (Kaul, A., 2006).
Eg. When an information like a flight schedule change is communicated. However, how the information is dealt with or used, depends upon the end user or the receiver and his or her level of understanding, education perception, need etc. Eg. A person might change channels or mute TV during commercials, however the same person might listen to an advertisement when it interests him. Similarly, a mail can be regarded as junk or not, depending upon the person receiving it. Various ways, like audio/visual, electronic media can be used to deliver the required messages, however using a picture or a video might be more effective in most situations.
Nowadays, we have very high aims and goals in order to understand communication. It has resulted in numerous areas of studies within communications:
Communication constitutes of the following chief aspects that facilitate the process. Context is the setting of a place influences the kind of information that will be passed. It is fundamental to note that every message both written and oral starts with context. Context is termed as an extensively broad field that comprises of a variety of aspects. The context may be cultural, physical, chronological, or social. Notably, each culture, organization and nation communicates in their own ...
Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages between parties. As per the Oxford English Dictionary, the word communication comes from the Latin “communicare” which means mutual interchange and “communico” means to share. Communication is the interactive process between two people whereby one person is able to express what he/she means in a clear and unambiguous way and the other person is able to understand the meaning of the message fully and properly. In other words, one person expresses and the other understands. The responsibility for communication lies with both people – the one expressing must express as clearly as he or she possibly can and the other person must either understand or let the person who
