With one fell swoop of my hand. I can turn blobs of color into busy highways of light. Into lines piercing the sky. I can tell the story of your family and before all the t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted I can give you just a little piece of my soul. My talent that has set me apart from others has been my art, but living my life as a multifaceted person I don’t think it's that simple to say “The thing that makes me different is my art,” is to put me in a box with other individuals that have declared the same statement. The artistic experience is one that is meant to share humanity with others. This is what has been integral to who I am today. Humanity is often forgotten about. What is never forgotten is money and power. When I was in the students superintendents program I was given the notion that I did have power in the political system. We learned about grassroots campaigns, oration, and how to get the attention of politicians trying to dodge our questions. Our final project was to go to the capital and advocate test reform to the senators there debating whether to get rid of the new tests haphazardly put in place. I was nervous upon walking into the republican senator I’d been assigned office. I expected a caricature of a person to open the door open usher us in. A few of my fellow delegates and I would give him our liberal fiscally irresponsible views. and he would excuse his self to a meeting. The experience was not quite as un-human as that. Senator Aaron bean ushered us in and sat us down. I started speaking to him about his own testing legislation he listened and engaged with us. I was almost surprised. The senator was humane and he was actually trying to make us feel important. He was in a position of power and he could make change within the education
