A first-year associate is an entry-level junior attorney and is generally a recent law school graduate in the first year of law practice. The school subject that my co-op placement relates to is Careers (GLC2O1). One of the expectations from the Careers curriculum that can be demonstrated and assessed at my placement is demonstrating effective use of personal management skills. I effectively use my developed personal management skills when I stay organized, when I am accountable and responsible for my actions, and when I manage my time wisely. When I am at my placement, I demonstrate this area of learning when I write reports. I need to manage my time wisely when I’m typing up reports because I need to make sure that I finish by the end of that workday. From doing this task, I learned that it’s important to stay organized and work efficiently because when I keep my workspace neat and I work productively, I manage my time better, which allows me to get my work done faster and more effectively.
