A prevalent issue in today's society is the use of fossil fuels and the release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Transportation, deforestation, and technology are all factors associated to climate change. This issue is significant to me due to the fact that I was born and raised in California, and the recent drought in California can be linked to global warming. Every day an excess of CO2 is released, the world is drastically changing. However, there are steps that the public can take to counter the devastation these changes will cause.
Electricity production is one of the factors contributing to climate change this is responsible for more than 25% of CO2 emissions. The modern car accounts for about 20% of fossil fuel released in the …show more content…

The drought in California is an example of the severity of climate change. The result from this is increased price of water and even food. Following in suit new regulations on how much water each individual can use, and eventually if the drought continues people will be forced to move to an area with more water. Additionally entire species can be affected by global warming. The short but effective rise in sea level is bleaching many of the coral reefs. This is damaging the ecosystem and making it impossible for many of the species to sustain themselves. Many species depend on coral reefs to survive. However, if everyone can make a few changes and be conscious about the effects of releasing CO2 it is possible to avoid some of these consequences.
One way to decrease global warming includes simply turning off lights and gadgets after use. Some electronics use more power off then on. If you're using more power than necessary, power plants are releasing more CO2. than necessary. Using a bus or even a bike can decrease climate change, if one is able, moving closer to work is equally efficient. On a larger scale, tropical deforestation not only destroys ecosystems it is also responsible for 30% of the world's heat trapping emissions. If we decrease tropical deforestation, climate change would decrease as
