Philosophy statement I believe that each child is a unique special individual who needs a secure, caring, and safe atmosphere to where they can get there best learning from, where they can also grow and mature emotionally, physically, socially and intellectually. It is my desire as a future educator to help students meet their upmost fullest potential, by providing an environment that is safe, respectful and supports risk-taking. There are many elements that I believe contributes to making an environment that is nurturing, safe and respectful. A teacher should get to know each and every one of their students. A teacher can do that by talking their students during recess, during lunch etc. A teacher should also not just talk to their students but also actively listen. A teacher can learn a lot from their students just by listening. If a teacher just talks to a student it does not show the student that you care but by letting the students talk to you it will. Sometimes you will not have time to talk and listen to your students. So in that case, you can have worksheet that asked for their top three favorite things to do, or what their favorite color, food, or hobbies are. Their response will let know a bit more about them. A classroom should be safe both physically and emotionally. A classroom should be safe physically by having nothing that can harm students in the classroom. The classroom should also be safe emotionally, meaning that the students feel okay being at the school and not afraid to be bullied. Although bullying can be physical it can be emotional too. If a student is being bullied they are not going to be focused on their school work, and may even fear
