¥ The circle of courage consists of 4 main parts. Generosity, Mastery, belonging and independence. The principle of the circle of courage essentially is a guideline for the healthy development of any individual. It is used to help youth who have been through trauma focus on the positives and strengths in their life to create a balance. In order to have a positive sense of self individuals must have strengths in all 4 areas of the circle of courage. It is a great guideline for any individual to be able to recognize their strengths and which discover which areas in their life need further development. Understanding what each section of the circle means is important to be able to recognize all your strengths and weaknesses.

¥ Children need to opportunity to give back to their community and others around them. Not only will developing generosity strengthen the relationships around them it will also help them to gain a more positive sense of self. The youth will realize that giving back makes them feel good about themselves.

It helps me to feel good about myself. Which only encourages me to give more. From a young age I have always found it important to volunteer some of my time back to the community. I have done things from helping with the minor hockey league, to volunteering at a daycare.
¥ I tend to find a good balance with giving. Not neglecting others needs but also not giving too much. When someone is upset I help them as much as I can without being unrealistic and pretending everything is fine. This will help me in the Child and Youth Care field as I will not be over comforting a child and thus overlooking the problem but instead coming at it in a caring rational
