Worldview of Christianity and Buddhism
Worldview is an individual’s perspective of the way the individual processes and elucidates their understandings and views about the world. In society the worldview of an individual is structured by their fundamental conception of personal believes, culture and ideas about particular subjects around the world. Although there are many ethical contradictions in the nursing profession it is important for nurses to have a respectful understanding of the worldviews of others. This paper will compare and contrast the worldviews of Christianity and Buddhism their similarities and their differences.
Worldview Perspective
Christianity is a monotheistic religion that originally arose out of Judaism. Christianity later developed its own religion according to the life and teachings of Jesus Nazareth (Pollock 2008 ). When comparing their beliefs we can verify the following: Christianity believe in one God Jesus, Buddhist believe in more than one God. In the afterlife, Christianity believe in heaven or hell for their eternal life, while Buddhist believe that when a person dies they return in another life. Both Christianity and Buddhism follow the same rule when it comes to the well being of others. Christianity and Buddhism both hold a person’s faith and good merits for determining the individual’s eternal life and or re incarnation. Both religions preach to their followers the importance of causing no harm to others, loving each other and to live within community.
