Choosing a political party is an important decision to make in today’s American society. The options for the political parties are Democrat, Republican, and Independent. Picking a political party can happen for some people at a young age. I chose my political party when I was 16 years old. I chose Independent. My parents are Democrats themselves. It makes for an interesting discussion at the dinner table when talking about politics. Some people will choose their political party for a few different reasons. Some people will choose their political party just to be the same thing as their parents, because they really believe in what either party is saying, and sometimes people feel pressured to do so. This is what should be the case for most people. People will believe in some things a politician is saying when it comes to what interests the individual or individuals he or she is trying to reach. Some politicians actually do care about what is good for the country and the people in it. The politician would try his or her best to hear the concerns of all people, not just those who he or she wants to be seen with. The politician would try to make good changes for the country and not try to revert it back to its old ways. Things like this is what will draw people into picking a political party. People really need to be informed about this because it could end up shaping a person’s whole perspective on the party system the United States of America has in place. Some people will choose their party based off of a few things. Some people will choose a party because it is the same one his or her parents have always been. Standing just looks bad sometimes. Actually agreeing with a politician in the same party, with the same morals, as I do is very comforting as well. It shows how much people in the same party have in common. Pressuring somebody into it is not the way to go either. It just takes away from the, somewhat, truthfulness of the voting system we already have in place. A person should not have to feels as though they have to make a decision already, when it comes to politics. Hopefully one day, people will not take this party system that serious to the point where they stress out over
