For as long as can be remembered Gatorade has advertised its recovery drinks with sayings such as “fuel like a God”, “Nothing beats Gatorade” and “muscles rebuilt are muscle reborn” but, what if there there were a drink better than Gatorade? A drink that has all the same nutrients that make up Gatorade plus more and larger quantities of those nutrients. Even though it might spoil within a short time frame, chocolate milk has been around longer and is a better post workout drink than Gatorade for those exact reasons.

To begin, everyone hears about Gatorade through advertisements on tv and in person whether it's an add on a billboard or Gatorade sponsoring an event. But what is it about Gatorade that's so great? It's the abundance of Electrolytes, Carbohydrates, and calories which are three major components that aid the post workout recovery process. That can be super helpful when wanting to buy and store enough for a sport season or to prevent from having to go to the store every two weeks. But, Gatorade is more expensive than chocolate milk. Since you do not need to drink as much chocolate milk as you would Gatorade to get the same/better recovery results, you don't have to buy as much chocolate milk as you would Gatorade (Arancibia & Gerrick). With chocolate milk already being cheaper and not having to buy as much, it would still be financially better to invest in chocolate milk as a recovery drink, even if a little bit ends up expired. Plus who doesn't crave that chocolaty taste!

In conclusion, chocolate milk is a better option than Gatorade when it comes to post workout recovery drinks. The extra nutrients at the quantities they are found in chocolate milk vs Gatorade is too much of a bonus to not look into.
