The phrase "Chivalry is dead" has been used many times. However, is it dead or has it just evolved with the changes in the society and culture? As for me, I firmly believe that chivalry is not dead. It has evolved to adapt to the current times. The independence of women, the increasing cases of sexism, and the lack of proactive measures by women are the reason why people think chivalry is dead.
Times have changed, and women have learned to be independent. Growing up in a changing society brought about by women empowerment changed the perception of women. Being self-sufficient is the ultimate goal of many women. All these changes in how women go about their business are one of the reasons for the evolution of chivalry. Despite the independence women so boast about, they still need to feel loved and taken care of being the men around them. For example, due to social media people do not court anymore. Everything is online. Hookup culture has stalled chivalry, but men are changing and going back to the times when a man and a woman got to know each other, establish mutual trust by creating a real connection.
Despite chivalry being existent, there are many challenges facing it. In regards to men, behaving according to the knightly codes is not easy to pull off especially in this era where women value their independence. At the same time, women still want to be treated like a lady, but not too much. It is difficult for men to know when to act according to the women's needs.
