Neglect is a type of maltreatment that refers to the failure by the caregiver to provide needed, age-appropriate care although financially able to do so or offered financial or other means to do so. Neglect is an ongoing pattern of lacking care and is normally observed by close people in close contact with the child. Usually physicians, nurses, day care-sitter, relatives and neighbors are normally the ones to suspect and report infants, toddlers, and preschool age children. Once a child is in school , the school personnel often notices symptoms of child neglect.Children of teenage mothers suffer a higher rate of neglect and face a difficult future. An awareness campaign aimed at expectant teen moms will reduce the bad effects of neglect. The American Humane Association (year), says that, “In the year of 2005, 62.8% of children experienced neglect.” The focus on child neglect is very much pressed on some teen moms that are having a child/ children even if they already have a child. which is one of the many forms of neglect that happens the most. Physical neglect is one of the most prevalent causes of maltreatment in the world. Physical neglect happens when the caregiver or parent are not providing the child with the things they need such as a roof over their heads, food, and clothing. Not providing these things has a result of endangering the child’s health, well-being, development and growth. Physical neglect also includes not being there for the child such as non-supervision, child abandonment, and rejecting the child from home and not being able to provide safety , physical , and emotional needs. Physical neglect can and will do severe damage to a child. The damages can be malnutrition , serious illness, and physical harm to themselves.
