According to American Public Transportation Association (APTA), public transportation has define as a vehicle services that has be designed to transport customers on local and regional routes. The objective of a public transport is to provide good service and affordable to the public. There are various modes of public transportation available in Malaysia. Below are the available modes of public transport in Malaysia.

2.2 Importance of service quality in public transportation.

Every service that are provided to the users must have a good quality. Quality is very important in order to measure user satisfaction towards the service given. In order to measure the quality level, there is a list of characteristics that can be used to measure the service either it is good as expected or not. According to the survey that has been done by CoMET and Nova Metros, top 8 service quality indicator of public transport is; a. Availability.
Oxford Dictionaries has define availability as a quality of being able to be used or obtained at any time. Availability of public transportation means, the transportation service is always available during operation hours and cover all the area which is under their coverage. Public transportation availability is important in urban areas because of the high demand. Other than that, availability of public transport also refer to the transportation routing where it should arrive at the exact location on the right time according to the schedule of journey.

In order to promote greater use of public transport and less dependence private vehicles, an efficient public transport system is needed. Higher capacity transit systems, use of bus lanes, bus gates, and ITS systems are among initiatives that could be implemented to improve the public transport system.
