Character and Setting Analysis of Bride Comes to Yellow Sky
Setting and characters go hand in hand in The Bride Comes to Yellow Sky. With Each new setting there is at least one new character development. A new setting in each part of the story makes for diverse settings and characters. From a train leaving San Antonio to around the corner in a small town in Texas, a drunken gunslinger to negro waiters, this story has it all.
This story begins on a train specifically in a parlor car. This is where Jack Potter and his new bride are first introduced though his name is not yet given and hers never is. Crane chooses to tell about Potter in part one of the story so as not to give too much information at once, we do suspect? however that he will develop into the protagonist. The train is coming from San Antonio, where Potter and his bride were just married, and going to Yellow Sky, Texas. Eventually the setting changes as the couple moves to the dining car. The film reflects how class, gender and sexuality intersect in the real life. As the Rolling stone critics the film “ dudes always fear movies that might shrivel their sexual standing when women prioritize. Man up and see Bridesmaid. You just might learn something.”
The Princess Bride by William Goldman is a tale that is rendered new into many different scenarios. William Goldman uses lovers and royalty to play the fairy tale role in this book while also using evil. In the book the Princess Bride there’s a beautiful young women named Buttercup who lives on a Farm with a servant named Westley. As Westley is leaving for America for a better life Buttercup admits her love for him and asks him not to leave for America. While Westley is sailing to America is ship is attacked by the pirate ship Revenge. They leave no survivors! Buttercup hears the news in goes into a deep depression for a little while. (While all of this is happening the Prince of Florin is looking for a bride because his father is very sick). The Prince hears of Buttercup and her beauty so he asks her to marry him even though they don't love each other. Buttercup has to say yes. Later that day she is kidnapped by Fezzik (the Turk), Inigo (the Spaniard), and Vizzini (the Sicilian). The three men then sail to Guilder to kill Buttercup so Prince Humperdinck can start a war. Inigo then realizes the Man in Black is following them. The Man in Black then has a sword fight with Inigo and a hand fight with Fezzik. After beating both of them he has a mind battle with Vizzini. Also after winning that battle the Man in Black rescues the Princess. Buttercup finds out that the Man in Black is Westley and that he was infact the new Captain of the ship The Revenge which had “killed” him. Prince Humperdinck has had time to track down Westley and Buttercup know and told Buttercup to come with him back to Florin and he will let Westley go. Many old tells have the same stale beginning an end, but none really have a twist. The movie gives many different perspective views of the main character. A delightful postmodern fairy tale, The Princess Bride is a thrilling, intelligent mix of boastful behavior, romance, and comedy that takes an old damsel-in-distress story and makes it fresh.
Roz agrees to hide her real face (The Robber Bride, p.73). She suffers from physical delusions (The Robber Bride, p.102). She also presents herself as a victim who is deceived by her husband. She proves he is unfaithful to her (299). Roz too changed her name during the war, because of its Jewish quality (The Robber Bride, p.343). She presents her father as a hero (The Robber Bride, p.355). However, like her friends, Roz gets knowledge to recognize deception. She hears “the voice of Tony. Out of the three wonderful narratives given, the best one is “Stepping Into the Light” by Tanya Savory. While “Shame” by Dick Gregory is an interesting read, it is the weakest out of the bunch. The story had no clear setting, to many extra details, and a lengthy exposition. “I Became Her Target” by Roger Wilkins was a better executed story, even though it still had some flaws. This piece lacks any figurative language, but it was to the point and had clear organization. Thus, Tanya Savory’s piece was the best. It was easy to follow, used a constant symbol, and used some stories from others to make her point. So using narrative styles and elements in the best way, Tanya Savory wrote the better story.
Tradition has always remained of vital importance in our lives. Whether it’s the tradition to go to the beach the first day of summer, or to bring someone a gift when they first move into a new home. Everyone has his or her own beliefs and traditions they hold on to sometime during their lives. Furthermore, there has always been the tradition of weddings. The white dress, the ring exchange, vows, and of course, the procession. In times of a wedding, family and friends are gathered from both sides of the bride and groom. Everyone knows this; it’s a tradition worldwide. Some brides, however, choose to go against the assumption that a bride is always dressed in white and wear a red dress, or maybe a black one on their wedding day. Other couples might say “to hell with it all” and choose to get married in a small wedding chapel in Las Vegas.
Pride and Prejudice is a novel anonymously published in 1813 and is based on Jane Austen’s idea of the strict class prejudice and values during the regency period. Jane Austen’s intent of Pride and Prejudice was to respectively satirise the purely economic, utilitarian motives for marriage as well as the societal constraints which leave women with no choice but to marry. In doing so the themes of marriage and class are developed throughout the novel. The modern adaptation, Bride and Prejudice to a large extent minimises and trivialises Jane Austen’s original intent through the altering of societal values, the representation of Mr Collins and his proposal to Elizabeth, and the lose retelling of Mr Wickham’s betrayals in her novel, Pride and Prejudice.
The setting of these two stories emphasize, on visually showing us how the main characters are based around trying to find freedom despite the physical, mental and emotional effects of living in confinement. While on the other hand, dealing with Psychology’s ugly present day behavior showing dystopia of societies views of women during the time period they lived.

Evelyn Waugh’s 1945 novel Brideshead Revisited is a story about an upper class family observed and narrated by a middle class outsider Charles Ryder. The author introduces various motifs and themes throughout the novel, specifically the exploration of sexuality. Sexuality is defined as the expression of sexual receptivity or interest especially when excessive. Waugh successfully portrays homosexuality in this novel through the use of characterization, symbolism, and the nature of the relationship between the protagonist Charles Ryder and his tragic friend Sebastian Flyte. In Brideshead Revisited, homosexuality is the hidden love story concealed through the term friendship between Charles Ryder and Sebastian Flyte.
The world watched Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson crash hundreds of parties in the film Wedding Crashers. For some, it was a just another entertaining cinematic adventure. In “On the Subway,” Sharon Olds describes an encounter between a white woman and a black man. The way she describes the experience made it seem strange, rare even. Through the use of imagery, Olds conveyed the unsteadiness of the lady. She goes from the way they dressed, to stereotypical differences, to perception of one another. This grasps the poet's deliberate choice of organization. The combination of these literary techniques allowed the writer to contrast the two distinct characters.
