Character vs. self is important in the beginning of the Diary of Anne Frank because it shows what the characters are dealing with. In the story Anne has a difficult time deciding to sear her star or not. “It’s funny, I can’t throw mine away. I don’t know why.”(Goodrich & Hackett pg.709). Therefore,this quote shows character vs. self in that it gives a glance into Anne’s thoughts and what she is undergoing in her life.
