Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck is the first book in a five book series, which includes one novella. The main character, Kelsey Hayes stumbles into a world where a white tiger can be 300 years old and have a brother the same age, but a black tiger. Thought the novel, there is major character development, not just for Kelsey, but also for the tigers Ren and Kishan and their family's closest friend and at one time an army attendant, Anik Kadam. The setting also changes almost as much as the characters. The dialogue between the characters also changes, not just by they way the character interact with each other, but also the languages. In the beginning of the book, there is a prologue that gives a kind of back story as to what happened to Ren and …show more content…
By the middle of the book, Kelsey is completely aquatinted with both Ren and Kishan and her character is stronger, mentally and physically because of them. By the end of the book, Kelsey is ready to walk away and start college, which she does. Ren on the other hand, is almost completely attached to Kelsey by the middle of the book, in the end he can't stand to watch her leave. Whereas Kishan, he does not know Kelsey the way Ren does and that causes his character to undergo the most development. Kitten's character goes from being a rough, rugged, untamed tiger-man to being brought back into civilization and re-tamed. Unlike the three young characters, Anik Kadam (Mr. Kadam) does not change much, he does become a bit more caring and does look after Kelsey as if she were related to him. Tiger's Curse takes place in two main places, Oregon, where Kelsey, Ren and Mr. Kadam first meet and India, where Kishan is first introduced. The book starts in Oregon where Kelsey lives and worked. Ren was part of the circus which stopped in a town near Kelsey's home. After Mr. Kadam buys Ren, the two and Kelsey go to India, after being in India, Mr. Kadam takes Kelsey to Ren and Kishan’s home, days later Ren and Kelsey take a trip to the jungle to find Kishan and try to bring him home. After they fail, Ren, Kelsey and Mr. Kadam visit multiple temples of the Goddess Durga in attempt

Good leadership qualities are based on intelligence and patience. Piggy is enormously significant to the evolution of Lord of the Flies. Piggy has a poor eyesight, weight problems and asthma. Piggy is one of the best leaders on the island because he is the most sensible and cautious amongst the boys on the island, and he demonstrates his sagacity and cautious attitude many times in the book. Piggy’s existence on the island is a continuous reminder of the necessity for order and knowledge in society.
In Thomas Wolfe's "The Child by Tiger," the character Dick Prosser is clearly more credible than General Zaroff in Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game." This plausibility is due to each character's lifestyle, murder motives, and personal morals. The difference in the characters is very dramatic.
The book follows Dana who is thrown back in time to live in a plantation during the height of slavery. The story in part explores slavery through the eye of an observer. Dana and even Kevin may have been living in the past, but they were not active members. Initially, they were just strangers who seemed to have just landed in to an ongoing play. As Dana puts it, they "were observers watching a show. We were watching history happen around us. And we were actors." (Page 98). The author creates a scenario where a woman from modern times finds herself thrust into slavery by account of her being in a period where blacks could never be anything else but slaves. The author draws a picture of two parallel times. From this parallel setting based on what Dana goes through as a slave and her experiences in the present times, readers can be able to make comparison between the two times. The reader can be able to trace how far perceptions towards women, blacks and family relations have come. The book therefore shows that even as time goes by, mankind still faces the same challenges, but takes on a reflection based on the prevailing period.
The struggle for superiority can sometimes grow too intense. In Penelope Lively’s novel Moon Tiger, she illustrates a scene with two siblings scaling a cliff at the beach as they search for fossils. Once Claudia sees her brother Gordon find something, she desires to reach the top of the cliff in hopes of finding a wealth of these fossils. As she attempts to pass Gordon to reach the top, he tries to block her path, and she ends up slipping and falling to the ground below. Their mother, Edith Hampton, attempts to calm her children and help Claudia regardless of her exhaustion. Lively uses literary devices such as diction, personification, imagery, repetition, and selection of details to dramatize the complex relationships among the family
“He who tries to protect himself from deception is often cheated, even when most on his guard” (Plautus). This quote perfectly describes the life of Ariana Osgood, in the book Privilege by Kate Brian. Ariana uses her gift of analyzing people to prevent herself from being lied to or taken advantage of. Although she is especially cautious in her life, she often finds herself being used. She is merely a pawn in someone's game of chess. Even though Ariana has experienced this time and time again, she still continues to let others get close to her emotionally. Throughout all the secrets and lies, Ariana never truly learns how to protect herself from all of the deception surrounding her.
Before going to Alaska, Chris McCandless had failed to communicate with his family while on his journey; I believe this was Chris’s biggest mistake. Chris spent time with people in different parts of the nation while hitchhiking, most of them whom figured out that McCandless kept a part of him “hidden”. In chapter three, it was stated that Chris stayed with a man named Wayne Westerberg in South Dakota. Although Westerberg was not seen too often throughout the story, nevertheless he was an important character. Introducing himself as Alex, McCandless was in Westerberg’s company for quite some time: sometimes for a few days, other times for several weeks. Westerberg first realized the truth about Chris when he discovered his tax papers, which stated that “McCandless’s real name was Chris, not Alex.” Wayne further on claims that it was obvious that “something wasn’t right between him and his family” (Krakauer 18). Further in the book, Westerberg concluded with the fact that Chris had not spoken to his family “for all that time, treating them like dirt” (Krakauer 64). Westerberg concluded with the fact that during the time he spent with Chris, McCandless neither mentioned his

... occur later in the story. Also, they both deal with the issue if discrimination. Although it is more prominent in “The Child By Tiger,” the prejudices against race are mentioned in these stories and impact the actions of the characters. On the other hand, the characterizations of the characters are very different. Prosser and Rainsford are developed differently and that impact the audiences view of them. When analyzing these stories in order to compare and contrast them, many points stuck out and made the stories more interesting. “The Child by Tiger” and “The Most Dangerous Game” are extremely well written short stories that both relate and differ in countless ways.
Yan Martel and William Blake described the tiger’s appearance, soul, and creation similarly. Both authors felt that tigers are fierce, strong, majestic and so on, however they also said how fearful tigers are.
The white tiger is one of the biggest in the cat family. The white tiger is long it can grow up to 3.3 meters long and weigh as much as 300 kilograms hard to carry. Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. They live in Asia and belong to the same genus as the lion, leopard, and jaguar. Two major subspecies of the tiger are the Siberian tiger and the Bengal tiger. The tiger is thought to have originated in northern Asia during the Pleistocene Epoch.
Animal endangerment is a very prominent problem in the world today. This is because the world is plagued by poaching and habitat loss still even though poaching is illegal, and habitat loss shouldn’t happen anymore due to a myriad of laws. With tigers it is worse because of how valuable they are to the world. Tigers are one of the most endangered species in the world, and they are very essential for everything they contribute to their habitat and their ecosystem.
The Bengal tiger is a carnivorous, mammal primarily from India. It lives in habitats such as the coniferous Himalayan Forest, the mangroves of the Sunderbans, the hills of the Indian Peninsula, or the forests of Rajasthan and Northern India. At one time Bengal tigers were scattered throughout Asia. Now they are generally found in India and some regions of Bangledesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and Myanmar. There is approximately 4,000 alive in the wild now, and about 300 are in captivity in zoos around the world.
