Character Analysis: The Walking Dead

“The Walking Dead” For the past five years every Sunday at nine o’clock, I have religiously watched the AMC presentation of “The Walking Dead”. Season, after season I have grown more attached, and intrigued with every episode. Since beginning the show in 2010, I have grown accustomed to all the characters. Of course I have my favorites and least favorites, but regardless of the characters it always seems to be the environment that captivates me. “The Walking Dead”, is a show about survival during a zombie apocalypse. The main character Rick Grimes, was a former sheriff who awoke from a months-long coma to find his world completely shattered. If they don’t, they do it eventually. Their true emotions always prosper, no matter how long they try and hide them. “Darryl”, another character of the group always does what he feels as though is right. “Darryl” isn’t a man of many words, he keeps to himself and protects those around him, but when he does speak, he’s usually speaking out. As for “Rick” you never know what you’re going to get, “Rick” can say one thing and with the blink of an eye turn around and do another. The show is about survival of the fittest, so in some ways it can be a critique of individualism. Meaning there is strength in numbers, not to travel alone, that the “lone wolf” strategy will get you killed. . It is hard to have a, message that solely sums up the entire six seasons. It is possible the message could be never give up, the group has literally been through hell, and back and still continue to strive for a better future every day. Every season can also portray a different message, along with every episode. In their world fighting isn’t a choice, if you don’t fight you die. Rick and his group are fighters, they want to live, and they want a holy grail of some sort to save them from the life they know and until they have that they will never stop
