In A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, Meg Murry overcomes evil. Meg journeys through the world of Camazotz that has given into evil. Charles Wallace gets drawn into “IT’ and it is Meg’s job to save him. Throughout the novel, A Wrinkle in Time, Meg proves to be a character who shows self- doubt, learns that love is very powerful, and understands she does not have to be like everybody else. In A Wrinkle in Time Meg has a lot of self-pity and self-doubt inside of her. She tends to compare herself to her mom often. Meg thinks that she is ¨repulsive-looking¨ and fails to see that everybody is unique. She has a character versus self conflict. Meg acts like she is horrible because her father is gone and she needs attention from her family.
The book Blind, written by Rachel DeWoskin, is about a highschool sophomore named Emma, who went blind after being struck in the face with a firework. When she first lost her sight, Emma was placed in a hospital for over 2 months, and once she was released, she could finally go home again. DeWoskin uses the characterization of Emma throughout the beginning of the text to help the reader understand the character’s struggle more. Especially in the first few chapters, it was difficult for Emma to adapt to a world without sight. For instance, DeWoskin writes, “And sat down, numb, on our gold couch. And tried to open my eyes, rocked, counted my legs and arms and fingers. I didn’t cry. Or talk” (DeWoskin 44). As a result of losing a very important scent, she’s started to act differently from a person with sight.

From what I gather, this was to represent a sort of formality between her and Caro because they were not yet acquainted. Wrinkle in Time is an exciting adventure of supernatural proportions. The amount of excitement being proved by the quote, " Wild nights are my glory," said by one of the extraordinary figures that help the heroes and heroine throughout their ordeals. Madeleine L'Engle, the author, writes in such a way that when read, the readers feel like they are actually in the story. Various emotions and thoughts will be felt and thunk throughout the book, from imagining L'Engle's fantastic creatures to loathing the dark antagonistic figures that dwell throughout space. Making captivation of this tale an inevitable event, due to the author's imagery, the mood she sets up for each event, and the fondness developing with each character, as if the character was actually known personally.Madeleine uses a vast amount of imagery throughout the entire novel. Imagery so vivid that in one's mind it feels like the dialogue is spoken by one's self instead of by the progatonist. The quantity of detail used is so great that it would be known even if an insignificant shrub was rooted somewhere in the environment of where the characters may be in. For example, in every location that the story's personalities are in, an almost exact view of the landscape, any beings that may exist there, and the name by which the environment they inhabit in that time is called, would be known. The imagery is somewhat used in correspondence with any foreshadowing that takes place, because some objects described that do not seem to be important may later be of some significance.
