How to Turn Life Challenges into Opportunities

Life as You Make It

Challenges, no matter your lot in life, are going to be part of living. Everyone bumps into them at some point. And most, if not all, great achievements often arise from turning these challenges into opportunities of a lifetime.

You may be facing the challenge of unemployment or poverty. You may be obese and has been struggling with your weight for a long time. You may be deaf, blind or without limbs putting you in a more difficult spot than majority of people. You may be a college dropout just like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg were once. Or you may think you were born at the wrong place, at the wrong time in the wrong family.

In any circumstance, the reality remains that challenges will always be there. Either you let those trials and problems get the best of you or you can decide to beat them out by honing the right skills that will put those challenges to shame. Because at the end of the day, it's just a matter of how you respond to challenges that come your way.

As Charles Swindoll succinctly puts it, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it."

Fine Tune Expectations
To be able to face life challenges more effectively, you need to fine tune your mind to expect them. That way, you're like a soldier who's always ready for battle. Life, after all, is full of both bad and good surprises. If you don't want to be taken by surprise, it's important to set realistic expectations about life as a whole.

Take it from the saying, "Expect for the best but prepare for the worst!"

At the end of the day, if you don’t see things through the eyes of an optimistic, hopeful and able individual, you are the only person who’s going to lose. When you let challenges get the best of you, there’s no one to blame but yourself. And there’s no one who’s going to suffer the consequences but yourself.

While the road to self belief, optimism and taking control of your life is hard and arduous, every effort is worth it because the rewards are more than what you bargained for. Again, just look at how awesome Nick Vujicic’s life is. He lives a meaningful, inspiring, happy and fulfilled life because he decided to step up to the place and live out the life he truly deserved.
