In addition, the biggest challenge of parenting was trying to keep up with the latest trends that were going on for children and being able to afford them. My mom said that never wanted to disappointment me as a child so she made sure I always had the newest toys and clothes, but it did start to become a pricey trend. There were times when my mom said that she would have to explain to me that it was not about having all the newest and nicest materials to be happy and accepted among my peers. This was challenging for my parents because when they were growing up there was not many material things that every child needed. My mom also said they did try their best to show me that in life I was not always just going to be handed things, so they made me earn my new materials. Lastly, when I asked my mom about her anticipation to be a grandparent, and she talked about how she cannot wait to spoil that baby. She My mom had learned from her father to be the best parent you can be even when it is hard to be there all the time. I could tell that my grandpa and mom were the type of parents that put their children 's happiness above their own. Something else that is similar is the vacation tradition that has been going on since my mom was little. I think that my grandpa loved to see that continue with my parents and me. Another similarity I noticed is that both my mom and grandpa were very family oriented. They made sure there was always quality time with the family and was seen as much as possible. Family is very important to my grandpa because he had four brothers and he barely has seen them so he made sure that his children got to see the rest of the family and knew them.
