Causes Of Destruction Of Wildlife

They say that we leave with us steps in the Earth. Reminders to others that there once was life here and there is a strong imprint to show for it. Animals leave prints in the sand on beaches and in the tender soil of land. We,as humankind, leave prints of destruction. Destruction? How could that be? Is what you may ask yourself, but think about it. Daily we do not think about all the small choices we make that could possibly be harming our wildlife and their environment. We leave our imprint of destroyed beach dunes and dug up coral reefs. We leave our trash to rot in fields and we don 't think anything of it. We do not think about the harmful effects we are having on our planet and the animals whom share it with us. We must start making a change …show more content…

In order to talk about the ways we can prevent our wildlife and there homes from being disrupted. We must first address the main causes at hand. These main causes would be: The destruction of habitat, hunting, and pollution. Firstly we should address the destruction of habitats. Since we,as living things, grow and populate,we eventually need more space to spread out. In order to make more room for us we must cultivate to different areas and ultimately disrupt the all ready existent ecosystem there. Taking out a vast amount of wildlife without even realizing it. Loral Wilkonson, states in her article,How we Save Endangered Species, that "scientists estimate that up to one-third of U.S. species are at increased risk of extinction, and more than 1,300 U.S. plants and animals already have been federally listed as threatened or endangered." ( Wilkonson,para.3,reference 1.) This …show more content…

Pollution is the main offender in the disruption of several animal and plant ecosystems. We are the base problem for the pollution that is taking away from our wildlife and plant life. We burn heaps of garbage that is dumped out at sites, with machines that run on fossil fuels. These fuels are tainting the air and having a national effect on the world around us. This effect being, global warming. With temperatures at a rise from the constant burning of fossil fuels and the sickly gas puffing out of our mufflers,we are slowly killing wildlife across the globe. One example of an animal species that is being greatly impacted by global warming is the polar bear. Due to the rapidly changing climate temperature, sea ice platforms are breaking off and slowly drifting apart. This makes it very difficult for polar bears to hunt because they can only spend a short time submerged under the arctic waters before they have to reach land,in this case sea ice. Although the polar bear has not been placed on the endanger species list, researches say that they could be on there very soon. Another issues surrounding pollution and the safety of our wild life would be the contamination of soils. The contamination of soils has been cause to the tainting of vegetation that our wildlife ingests. This contamination is caused by metals and other things such as coal ash. Due to past use of
