The quality of the air that we breathe, has always been important matter. No matter what season it is, the air that we breathe is, essentially, what keeps us alive. Air pollution, is something that has been a problem in the United States, for some time now. Throughout the last few years, there have reportedly been huge population increases in majority of the major cities. Those cities include: Atlanta, Ga., Los Angeles, Ca., Salt Lake City, Ut., and many others. Ironically these same cities are the ones that have the worst air quality in the United States. Why is this? Cities, like Los Angeles and Atlanta, have a lot of different modes of transportation; cars, buses, etc. The main cause of air pollution in cities like these, is the amount of people driving on a day to day bases. …show more content…

This is caused by the emissions from different fertilizers used and waste from the animals on the farm. Also because of the geography of these cities, a lot of the animal waste and fertilizers end up drifting, catching everything that drifts from the larger cities (emission from the power plants), causing even more pollution. While air pollution is caused by industrial means, it can also be caused by the human tampering of nature. Unattended campfires, the burning of debris, and the improper discarding of cigarettes all can cause wildfires. Wildfires are not only harmful to vegetation, but they are also extremely harmful to the air. Wildfires are one of the largest sources of PM2.5-fine particulate matter, too small to see that can cause damage to lungs. PM2.5 emits from wood smoke during a wildfire. Emissions from wildfires can travel long distances, potentially affecting the health ad air quality in places far from where the fire originated. Types if emissions that come from wildfires include: carbons monoxide, VOC, atmosphere mercury, and ozone-forming chemicals, all very harmful to the air and to human
