When Travis first met old yeller, he had bad prejudge on him. After a couple day, something happened and made Travis felt bad to yeller. One day, Travis heard bulls roasted from the south of cabin and he found there was a fighting between two bulls. Their cabin was located on a high knoll so Travis, Little Arliss and their mum watched the fighting there. Travis enjoyed the fighting between animals but Yeller disturbed the fighting. He roasted as loud as the bulls. Travis was angry with it and he throw the rock to it. It also caused the argument between Travis and Little Arliss. Little Arliss tried to throw stone to Travis in order to protect Yeller. With mum’s help, Travis went back to see the fighting but an accident happened at this moment. Those two bulls against each other with strong power and they came straight to fence. However, Travis did not realize the danger at all. When he noticed, he was scared and would like to ask yeller to help. Yeller ran out and Travis tried to use his way to stop those two bulls. Always, the yeller dog would follow him and catched things. Sometimes, little Arliss would hurt himself and I was worried about him. However, mum insisted on letting Arliss continue his catching game. One day, Travis heard little Arliss scream because he got into trouble in bear cub. Though mum and Travis tried to save little Arliss, they did not have much good ways. At this time, old yeller tried to attract the bear so that Travis got a chance to save Little Arliss. Bull is what psychologists call an alpha male. Bull Meechem has a self-confidence problem he must constantly establish his dominance over his family. When Mary Anne tries to condone Bull on his loss instead of saying thank your or just ignoring her he tell her “ Get out of here before I start knocking every freckle off your face” This comment was obviously unnecessary and offend Mary Anne deeply. Another horrible side to Bull is his physical abuse to Lillian and the kids. Countless times Bull has struck either Lillian or the kids. Though Lillian denies it Ben reminds her and the reader that Bull has struck her in the past. “‘Your nose was bleeding and that’s how I ruined this T-shirt. I’ve kept it, Mama, because I wanted it as proof. This is your blood, Mama. Your blood’” “ ‘He never hit me’ Lillian insisted”. These tantrums by Bull only alienate his children and his wife from him but he can still obtain their utmost respect and discipline.
Travis has many responsibilities when his father left for the cattle drive and he must work hard to take care of his family. Papa's chores weren't easy. Marking their hogs was a lot of hard work. Old Yeller and Travis work together to mark all thirty hogs. The job gets dangerous when the two get hurt badly from the mad hogs. In addition to marking the hogs Travis also had to supply food to his family. Killing a deer on the run Travis feels proud and important supplying food to his family. Above all Travis had to keep the varmints out of the corn patch. Again Travis and Old Yeller work together staying up at all hours of the night fighting off the varmints in the corn patch. Travis working hard and his responsibility was not enough for the family. Mama also had to work hard for the family’s survival.
Bull is the epitome of an emotional straightjacket, the Boy Code, and "the mask." He is unable to express his true feelings and holds a portrayal of "toughness" to the outside world, even when he suffers silently on the inside, especially after the conflict where his entire family started beating him. He does not want any of his children to be soft and claims that Meechums "chew nails" while other kids chew cotton candy. He expects his children to be the best at sports, academics, and everything else. He is not available to be talked to, uses nothing but harsh language (such as calling his children "hogs" and "sports fans"), is not involved with his entire family, does not have the time to spend with them, and shares no personal stories. To his daughters, he hardly talks to them and merely calls in Lillian to deal with them, giving them a bad sense of their bodies and themselves. Bull is what every father should strive NOT to be like.

During the Antebellum Era, slavery was about one-third of the South’s population. The Antebellum Era was the period before the Civil War broke out. The South’s economy was booming which was credited to slavery. Their argument about slavery was that slaves were necessary and important to their economy. It would kill their economy if they got rid of slavery. Slavery was the foundation of their economy. Without any slaves, cotton would not be able to be produce. Nearly 60 % of their exports was cotton. Southerners would also point out that slaves were better working in plantations than working in a northern factory. According to them, the North had bad workplaces and long hours. They insisted that slaves were cared for and helped when they needed it unlike the North. However, slaves were still treated bad in the South. They would resist slavery in a variety of ways. For example, running away was one form of resistance. When the Stock market crashed it was the beginning of all economic concerns in the 1930’s. This became a brutal time for everyone. Several tragedies occurred in the economy during the 1930’s including many people losing their jobs and becoming unemployed, people losing their homes and being unable to own land, and people having to wait in the Soup Kitchen line almost all day for food.
Many adolescents, In the Great Depression, received the full affects and suffered. Some were left hungry, impoverished, and hopeless, how are adolescents today compared? The 30’s were a time of great distress for many Americans. Events such as the stock market crash, an economy suffering from being inflated, overuse of credit, a farming crisis, and other events led America to the economic downfall known as the Great Depression. During the great depression, the unemployment was high, the wages were low, lines stretched around the city for food, families that lost their house had to live in makeshift homes in communities called hoovervilles, and children had to stop school to work for money. Teens effected by the Great Depression worked hard for low wages to try to put food on their family’s table. Today, teens are gluttonous and live a very care free life style with financial stability of their families. As you can see adolescents in the Great Depression differ much from today.

Many people were uncomfortable with this sometimes-racy “mass culture.” The Roaring Twenties was a time filled with youth hosting wild parties. Everything had a feeling of carelessness to it. People from all around the world were doing the same type of things as Americans were. As for the economic change, the total wealth of the U.S. nearly doubled from the year 1920 up until the great crash in 1929. Most African Americans knew this period to be the Harlem Renaissance. Many famous Jazz artists, playwrights, and sculptures came from the Harlem Renaissance. Some of which were Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes and Augustus Savage. Many other discoveries included sports legends, writers and gang life. Some of which were Babe Ruth, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Rudolph Valentino.
