Introduction: Imagine being forced to watch a family member get arrested and taken away from you, not a pleasant image right? Well this nightmare is a reality for so many immigrants in this so called free country. Deportations need to stop it is ruining people's lives. People risk everything when coming into the U.S. they shouldn't have to suffer anymore after that brutal journey. Everyday on the news the main story states “raids in the U.S.” it's annoying to have to have to keep seeing that, it hurts me and my people. this is a statistic from a couple years ago “Some 267,000 illegal aliens were jailed in federal, state, and local facilities that year” (Kirkwood) now that Trump is president of the U.S. he has passed many laws that are unfair. For instance in some states if an immigration commits a traffic violation they could be sentenced to a deportation process “effectively empowering local police to trigger the deportation of an immigrant for nothing more than a minor traffic offense” (Fitz) why should an immigrant be considered a criminal for a minor traffic offense? The United States has been known as the “Melting Pot ”and “The Land of Opportunity” for decades, but the title is slowly diminishing as scrutiny has been bombarding immigrants for wanting a better life. The effects of the deportation system are unbelievable; children are left alone while there father and mother are torn from their homes. Our current system of operations of indefinite immigrant detention is in desperate need of revitalization for as it stands it is one of the weakest and most unnecessarily components of our legislature. People from the united states are allowed to go and have a nice vacation in these places but yet those there have to cross a border and put their life at risk just to have a better life. Why do these people have to risk their lives in look for something better. The united states promises equality and this is what attracts others and its sad that they can’t come in legally without having to risk their lives. For centuries, migrating has been a life changing decision for people that choose to enter the United States in search of a better future. Therefore, immigration is the permanent residency of people that choose to move to a new country. It is true that immigration should be monitored, and immigrants thoroughly investigated. This is especially apparent in light of 9/11/01. However, if legal immigration continues to be less than feasible for hungry children and families, illegal and thus unmonitored immigration will persist. Which in turn makes the application for permanent residence cards a painstakingly drawn out process. This then discourages good, hardworking, and taxpaying migrants from even applying for citizenship. The hole gets deeper and the web is spinning out of control. Complex problems come with complex solutions, and I only wish that more people would understand this and start looking at the broadness of the issue (particularly in border towns and states).

My family has become very concerned with the current hostile political climate. Although their status has always been a concern it has never caused so much fear and uncertainty as it is today. Mexican and Mexican Americans have been a target for discrimination for many years as explained at the beginning of this section. It is unbelievable to think that what people of my ethnic group experienced about 90 years ago, is still happening today. It is clear through my parent’s story that their main reason for coming to this country was to be able to provide a better future for their families back home and their children. Which was something that would not be possible in their beloved country. Illegal immigrants are makers, not takers. Many American citizens see these approximate 11 million illegal immigrants in a negative view and don’t want them living in their communities.
