“Life offers no guarantees but abortion offers no chances.” Abortion is a legal issue across the world that needs to come to an end. It is the killing of millions of innocent, unborn babies that do not have a say in this matter. You might ask yourself: what are the Catholic Church’s views on this matter, what are the similarities of abortion and murder, and what might be the long term effects after an abortion? These are all questions people will ask themselves when thinking about this matter. The Bible says, “You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.” The Catholic Church condemns all forms of abortion. As Catholics we state that all human life must be respected from the moment of conception.
I would think that one of the highest effects after having an abortion would be depression. You would not just be upset with yourself, but you would be regretting the decision you made. Regretting an abortion would be the hardest thing to do because you cannot take back a life after you have done the act of killing. Anger would be another emotional effect because you might become upset with yourself and the choices you just made. Some women go into a deep depression which can result in suicidal thoughts or, even worse, a suicide itself. According to the website Abort73 an anonymous women who went through having an abortion said, “When it was done, I felt a sudden emptiness and knew I had made the worst mistake of life. It’s with me everyday.” Why proceed with the act of abortion when it causes so much pain in your life and so much suffering? Why kill a child who has not harmed you, has not even met you, or has not even felt your loving touch? You take away a child's life for what reason? Will it make you become the greatest version of yourself possible, or will it drag you down and make you have regret and suffering for the rest of your
