Cat Marnell is a dysfunctional drug addict. Every chance she got to become a better person, she threw it away. Why would she do that, what drove her to ruin her life? Cat Marnell was born in washington dc to a psychiatrist, and a physcotherapist. Her Father was verbally abusive, and her mother was an emotionally void trainwreck. Her older sister emily began talking back, and was sent away to a therapy boarding school. Cat says that her sister became robotic and weird from the letters emily wrote home. Wither sister gone, her dad became more angry and aggressive. Cat began dressing punk, and hanging out with punk kids. She began obsessing over courtney love, fashion, and Anna Wintour. She made art projects and shrines to courtney love.

Jared ventures out into the Great Smokey Mountains National Park to escape his sad home life and on his little adventure Jared finds the lost plane authorities had been looking for, for months. Upon leaving Jared takes the ring from the woman on the plan and returns home where he finds that his parents have already run out of drugs. His father takes the ring Jared had found and then sales the ring for money. His surroundings along with foreshadowing suggests Jared will have to make a life changing decision, but his youth suggests he is too naïve to come to such a realization.
In the end it seems as though there is no real moral or lesson to be learned. She wasn't really an addict; she just liked to drink. No long recovery, no epiphany. No treatment, no withdrawal problems. No lasting health issues. No real permanent problems in the end.

In the story The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe, the narrator should have held his ear or turned the other direction when coming into contact with the black cat. The story took a wicked twist when the narrator’s addiction made him do the unthinkable, and his life was changed for the worst. The Black Cat had many symbols that were used in it and which can interpret different understandings of the story being told. The black cat also known as Pluto can be symbolized to be an omen of his addiction occurring to happen. The fire after the killing of Pluto can be symbolized as him going to burning in hell for his sins. The new cat appearing can be a symbol for forgiveness and new beginnings. Last but not least the finding of his wife’s body can be symbolized to seeking help for his addiction. The story is built upon symbols and without these symbols the story wouldn’t have the meaning of Edgar Allan Poe’s confession of addiction.
