They might have to do everything from Hiring and Firing people, to managing infection control. Jobs in the field are increasing. A Director of Nursing must speak professionally at all times, with staff and residents. You must wear casual dress clothes. You have to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, which means using appropriate language, being neat in appearance, and being reliable.
