Introductions I plan to pursue a career in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This career take many steps to complete. But it is different routes you can take and different programs you can enroll in for this profession. Family Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication and diagnose patients and give treatment. They can work either in hospitals and or clinics as a primary healthcare provider. They can also order specific x-rays and test that need to be done for a patient. The nurse practitioners interact with less patients in a clinic than in a hospital. Np’s have privileges to prescribe medications in every state. Experience The experience that I already have is in CNA which I know how to take blood pressure manually and also give bed baths and dress patients. I can also take vitals and be emotional support for the patients and their families. I can give them their meals and feed them and document their condition and any health problems or concerns. I can also assist them to their wheelchairs or in the beds. And I can examine their bodies for any scares rashes burns or anything that I may think that is concerning. But that is an option it is not mandatory to become a CNA. Then you can apply for the Registered nurse program which is (2) years. But you should want to take a year to complete your prerequisites so you wouldn’t mix it with your program but that is also an option. Once you have your RN license you must have 1-2 years of experience. You would want to take the program that is called the Bachelor of Science in nursing known as a (BSN). After you complete the (BSN) program you would have to get state certified. After that you would have to obtain your Masters or (PHD) in nursing. Then you can work as a nurse
