The transfer from high school life to college, an action of which implicates that this career option in college is one that you will be practicing for many years to come. Hence, even more the reason to go through and research careers that one is interested in, as well as participating some time with such career that brought upon interest to one. A personality test may help pinpoint the careers that are better fit for one, due to the way questions are answered, will result upon, will be decide based on the test, your personalities and what careers are suggested for the test taker. “An adoption counselors create new families for people who want kids. They match potential parents with children who need safe, loving homes” (Career Cruising). The working conditions vary upon the location. Potential employers include: governments, non-profit organizations, and private adoption agencies. Adoption Counselors work with social workers, doctors, lawyers, and other professionals in the health and human services section. The work can be stressful for the individual, as may be a possibility in any potential job, but more so here, in of which this is a career where it doesn't just get left where one may leave off. The work goes home more often in times than not, just a characteristic of the career. Local and international travel may be required, all depending on the day. While adoption counselors my work standard office hours, of nine to five, there is always the potential of evening and weekend work in of which is sometimes required, again it all depends, and there is nothing set into stone for these workers (career cruising). The process of becoming an adoption counselor includes, the education level of four years in college. Although the number of years necessary to complete the program are different, they are under the same idea, need to go to college, before one can go and work on the career. Three different colleges that I have researched have included University of Michigan-Flint, Baker College Flint, as well as Michigan state. The cost of University of michigan-Flint, is $29,896 per year, four years will cost, $119,584, for five years it will cost $149,480. The cost of Baker College Flint is $9,000 per year, for four years $36,000, for five years $45,000. The cost of Michigan state is $27,290 per year for four years it will cost $109,160 and for five years it will cost, $136,450 (Career cruising). My plan for paying for college is to use as many grants and scholarships as possible. I do understand that later down the path I will more than less likely have to take out a loan, however, I prefer to do that as postponed as possible. My future plans, at this time involves going to University of Michigan flint, and then ,ransfeing out to Michigan state for veterinary. When I heard the clicks of heels in the hallway, I sat up attentively on the waiting couch. A pleasant looking woman came to greet me. She was in her mid fifties and introduced herself as Celeste Drury. She worked with the children home society, an adoption agency that is located in Oakland. I found Celeste through a family friend. The family friend knew my interest in learning about adoption and the criteria used for adoption processes. I was excited to meet Celeste and to learn about what she did. Settling in my chair, Celeste slightly cheered me. Celeste orphanage was licensed under the adoption agencies act. It has been in existence for many years. Children home society is in charge of providing adoption services in the entire state of California. I asked Celeste of its role and she said that it “helps parents to make informed decisions about their children, and also give tips on the adoptive parents” (Drury).
Child care is a rewarding and yet demanding career. These demands come from an abundance of sources: consistent changes to rules and regulations, requests from parents, and the forever evolving needs of a child in your care. Not only should these demands help solidify you as a growing early childhood professional, there are also plenty of other demands that can significantly affect your career choice. These include educational levels, levels of hands-on training, personal interests, family obligations, values, abilities, and your individual professional priorities.
Many aspiring foster parent anticipated the increase in their expenses once they added a member in their family but one thing that surprised many is that there is a upfront cost that they will need to pay before they received their adoptee. “You may be shocked to learn that there are few costs to adopting a child. Or you may be surprised to discover that not every adoption costs thousands of dollars.” (financing). Theres is no recruitment agency that will cover that cost not even the government. And I think some people who planned to adopt and once they realized the cost that they need to pay first, they back out and the will keep the children in the foster care and that’s why we have a lot of kids there. The analysis explored in this document is implementing a program UNIT for parents adopting a different race from their own. Adopting outside of a race is a life altering decision because of regulating mechanisms that condition people to accept or reject individuals based on their appearances. There are not any programs that guide transracial adoptions after they occur. Society as a whole has its own prejudices. The adoptive parents should know about their children’s cultural backgrounds. Society is not very conscience of prejudging it is just something that is a part of life. This is unfortunately one more issue dealt with by adopted children.
Ladies and gentlemen, good morning. Adoption recently has caused a hot-spot debate in Australia . Mr Rudd just argued that we should maintain the policy but I don’t agree with him. I am sure many of you are not satisfied with the current situation because we all clear this is not a great one. Adoption is so important because it is a way to change children’s lives. This debate is not about me and Mr Rudd; it’s about you and these children so you should make the best choice. For too long this policy has been disadvantaged to the children who are adopted or going to be adopted and those foster families. It’s the time to change. Relaxing the regulation of adoption within Australia and from overseas will be one of the liberal party’s aiming next term if I get your support. And let me tell you why choosing to relax adoption’s regulation is stepping up in the right direction to change.
The idea of adoption has been around far longer than the formal legal system of adoption in place today. In the bible, there is a passage detailing the adoption of Ester by her cousin, Mordecai, after the death of her parents. Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, and Babylonians all had their own systems of adoption. Adoption systems differ from country to country. United States citizens who internationally adopt today allow for the blending of cultures, languages, traditions, and ideals. In contrast, the practice of adult adoption in Japan is a particularly interesting system used quite differently and reflects a lot of traditional Japanese culture itself.
Their hearts sank as they watched the child they had come to know and love as their own, be taken away by strangers that they had never met until today. Statistics show that the rate of adoption has grown since the 1900s. In 1944, about 50,000 adoptions took place in the U.S. The greatest known number of adoptions took place in 1970 when 175,000 children were adopted. Currently, there is only limited statistical information on U.S. adoptions. (Child Welfare Information Par. 2) The most complete statistics were gathered by the National Center for Social Statistics (NCSS) from 1957 through 1975. Most new statistical information about adoption is being gathered and analyzed by private organizations, through private surveys and research. The process to adopt a child is a wait of two to seven years, leaving most of the young children time to grow older. The usual demand for an older kid is not as high as it is for a younger child; therefore, the wait to adopt an older kid should be lessened to an easier and faster process, as well as the process to adopt a young child. This would give the children a chance at being adopted earlier, instead of them growing up and being set aside when a younger child arrives. I also think when adopting an older kid, the adoptive parents should not have to go through the same long wait time they would if they were to adopt a toddler or an infant.
