Call To Action

The ultimate goal of websites, landing pages, blogs, and even social media pages is to get visitors to perform a specific action. In marketing, this is known as a call to action. From placing an order to signing up for your newsletter, getting people to do something should be an integral part of your Internet marketing strategy that helps generate customers.

Hey, Sign Up Now!

A well written call to action clearly states what you want visitors to do. For example, if you want visitors to subscribe to your newsletter, a great call to action would be: 'Sign up today to receive a new and informative email message each day that's packed with helpful tips and advice you can really use.'

Not only does this short blurb ask people to sign up today, …show more content…

Encouraging people to buy goods and services on your website takes a little more thought, but once you present an offer people can't refuse, you will see an increase in sales. Include a call to action promoting goods and services in email messages, landing pages, social media pages and blogs.

Example: "Visit mybusiness.com to learn more about fly fishing and browse through our extensive collection of fishing gear and gift items. Free shipping for orders over XXX."

As you can see, this call to action includes a link to the website, a brief description of what visitors can expect, and a little extra incentive - free shipping.

Avoid Multiple Calls to Action

One mistake that beginner marketers make is adding more than one call to action on a landing page or email message. Asking people to sign up for your newsletter AND make a purchase will not increase conversion rates - in fact, it may cause them to go down.

Include one call to action per marketing piece. Create a landing page specifically to build an email list. Create another landing page to attract web visitors to your website. And while you can include a link to your website on landing pages used to build email lists, don't mention anything else about placing an order or free gifts with purchase, save these calls to action for your website or other marketing
