Burmese Pythons Impacting the Everglades Why are the burmese pythons affecting the everglade’s ecosystem? Florida everglades currently have tens of thousands of thousands of burmese pythons overpopulating the ecosystem, which is causing problems for Florida’s ecosystem. The presence of burmese pythons is impacting the everglades by endangering species, affecting people,and overpopulating. Burmese pythons are impacting the everglades by endangering species in that ecosystem. One reason the burmese pythons are affecting people is because, “hundreds of people armed with shotguns, rifles, machetes, handguns and hooked spears many who have never even seen a Burmese python - will roam the Florida Everglades in search of coveted snakes. Our advice: If you happen to be in the area, be sure to wear a bulletproof vest” (Source 2). These people are suggesting to be as safe as possible and be armed with all this gear because of how dangerous these pythons can be. Another reason these pythons are impacting people is, “But is challenging people from all over the country come down and kill some pythons really going to solve the problem?” (Source 4). This shows that a lot of people are coming to kill pythons and as shown in the reason before people can get hurt while doing this which can cause problems, such things as complaints about injury or death of a family member because they went to compete for a prize is just kind of stupid. Evidence of the overpopulating pythons is “Tens of thousands of Burmese Pythons are estimated to be living in the Everglades”(Source 2). This shows how much pythons are living in the everglades, people are trying to change this, but they are barely going make a dent. Another reason is, “I’m not in love with the idea of the python challenge. Yes, the alarming growth of the burmese pythons in the everglades is a big problem”(Source 4). This is explaining that this is not the best solution because this was caused by mankind. The alarming amount of Burmese pythons is obviously a problem, but because it was an event cause by mankind, it’s doesn’t make this the best
