The Effects of Bullying Bullying of students in school is an abuse that affects and produces a number of negative experiences on the victim. It is proven that those students who bully do so merely because they see themselves superior than those being bullied. They use this as a tactic to make juniors fear them and show them that they are not equal in any way. Some will even bully as a revenge of the bullying they suffered in the past. I have been bullied before and I know some of the effects it could have on a person. Bullying is a serious cause of many issues and has effects that may be long lasting. One feels bad when mistreated for no good reason in a school environment which is meant to be a learning institution. Depression is increased as mistreatment continues to be harsh and this greatly affects the performance of the victim. Some will have altered feeding and sleeping cycles. According to NICHD research “Those who bully others, those who are bullied, and those who bully and are bullied—are at increased risk for depression.” This proves that a victim or even the bully is at a great risk of being depressed. (“How Does Bullying Affect Health & Well-being?”). I vividly remember coming home from school almost every single day feeling depressed. I would not be able to anything all day other than cry and feel lonely. Everyday I went to school it become worse for me. I thought that high school would be a new start and I would do just fine but I was wrong. The students always wanted to start drama to look “cool” and with my luck they would always pick on me. I was again, called mean names but it didn 't stop there. Everyday I experienced something new I would be pushed around during lunch lines and I would always get dirty looks and when I walked to my class I would get called a “terrorist” just because of my religion. This happens in those cases where the management is determined to be reluctant to prevent bullying or does nothing to protect the juniors. The emotional torture that the victim gets after a prolonged torture is what makes them think of killing themselves. Bullying also has effects on the institution where it’s reputation is greatly destroyed. People will negatively talk about the school and chances are higher, that most parents will avoid taking their children to such schools. The overall performance for the school is found to decrease as individual victims of bullying ends up performing poorly. In other cases, the oppressed students might gang up to organize strikes which greatly destroys the school infrastructure and disrupts the normal
