Why do people want to develop technology? This questions has a lot of answer but I think people want to ease in own life. Today, our lives are very comfortable thanks to technology. Sometimes this is dangerous for human’s life. Maybe they can gain weight. Because people don’t make sport but they want to speed with another vehicle. From past to present, researchers (mechanical engineers, electrical engineers) use to a machine for motion. They're trying to develop every time .This machine is Engine. Engine is very important for every machine and every Engineer. Engine is very complicated machine. People need to use some energy. Actually people need to convert energy in engine for motion. We usually use fuel for energy. Engine is burn fuel and ıt creates heat and motion. It creates heat because ıt creates friction so friction always obstructs motion in engine. In the word, many kinds of engine are produced by people. Some of these are reciprocating-engine are electric motor. Generally, we use reciprocating-engine. For example: Cars, trains, aircraft. We have two kind of reciprocating-engine. First is internal combustion engines, second is external combustion engines. I will explain this engine types in other page. If you want to go anywhere quickly, we use any of these vehicles because time is very important for people. Formerly, people don’t have engine so firstly, I explain the story of engine Story of engine In a past time, people don’t have engine system so they use human’s power, wind or water power, animal power. When the number of people increases, people want to easy life. And the engine was developed by people. Some researcher effects engine design. I research some researcher in internet. ... ... middle of paper ... ...outube.com/watch?v=DaF_K1R6PoI Ground Author (2013, December 24) “water pump” at Wikipedia URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pump Ground Author (2013, September 16) “spark plug (Turkish language” at Wikipedia URL: http://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buji Ground Author (2013, December 30) “spark plug” at Wikipedia URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spark_plug Alican Gürcan (2013, April 16) “turbo” URL: http://www.forumotomobil.com/forum/otomobil-sozlugu/turbo-nedir-ne-ise-yarar-nasil-baglanir-ve-dikkat-edilmesi-gerekenler-nelerdir/ Ground Author (2013, December 19) “fuel injection” at Wikipedia URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_injection Ground Author (2013, august 1) “Crankshaft” at Wikipedia URL: http://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krank_mili Author (2010, June 28) “How the work car engine” URL: http://www.forumalev.net/teknik-bilgiler/420630-araba-motoru-nasil-calisir.html

When Ford introduced the Mustang in 1964 there was no immediate reaction from General Motors, but by August of '64, just four months after the Mustang's introduction, GM realized the appeal of a four seat sports car. Ironically, the Mustang was created in response to the Chevrolet Corvair Monza!
After the steam engine was created in the early 17th century, many people and companies tried to take that same technology and apply it to automobiles. Nobody was successful until a British inventor by the name of Richard Trevithick created a multi passenger automobile that ran on a power source that was driven by a steam-propelled piston at high pressure (Bellis). Up until the mid 1900’s cars were only produced by specifically skilled blacksmiths, and were very expensive. There were only about 4,000 cars produced from the 1890’s to mid 1900’s (Bellis).
Try to imagine life without calculators and how difficult it would be to solve a mathematical problem. However, Charles Babbage is the person to thank and be grateful that we do. Charles Babbage is the inventor of the Difference Engine as well as the Analytical Engine. These inventions were made to calculate different math problems with accuracy and prevent human beings from making errors when solving a math problem. In the following paragraphs you will learn about Charles Babbage early life, educational background, and how his inventions are relevant to today.
Technology is supposed to be seen as such an advancement and great accomplishment. What others may not always know is sometimes it isn’t all fun and games, it can be dangerous. As seen when we created the atomic bomb and guns, their only purpose is to destroy and cause pain to others. Although they are not always in use, they are a constant threat to our well being. We need to take into consideration the positives and the negatives of the technology we create today.
In the future the automotive industries will need alternative fuel sources, in turn that means they will need alternative engines in their automobiles. The engines found in their cars will have to be changed to fit the new fuels being made. They have many directions in which they can go concerning engine types and fuel types.
For hundreds of years society has been divided into various economic, power, and social classes that represent the worth of individuals. Often there are three social classes depicted, the most common being: upper, middle, and lower class. Social status has become an essential part in the way mankind treats one another. The social class system in Watty Piper’s The Little Engine That Could can be analyzed through the conventional symbolism of color used to illustrate a small train’s journey to the other side of the mountain.
Starting in the late 1700's, European engineers began tinkering with motor powered vehicles. Steam, combustion, and electrical motors had all been attempted by the mid 1800's. By the 1900's, it was uncertain which type of engine would power the automobile. At first, the electric car was the most popular, but at the time a battery did not exist that would allow a car to move with much speed or over a long distance. Even though some of the earlier speed records were set by electric cars, they did not stay in production past the first decade of the 20th century. The steam-driven automobile lasted into 1920's. However, the price on steam powered engines, either to build or maintain was incomparable to the gas powered engines. Not only was the price a problem, but the risk of a boiler explosion also kept the steam engine from becoming popular. The combustion engine continually beat out the competition, and the early American automobile pioneers like Ransom E. Olds and Henry Ford built reliable combustion engines, rejecting the ideas of steam or electrical power from the start.
Back when there were not rapid advances in technology, people were living agreeably amongst each other. They used candles, wrote letters, and invested their time in reading and gaining more knowledge. They did not have all the luxuries people have today, but they were content. They valued education, the arts, and hard work. In Europe, people such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Galileo, Copernicus, Monet, Einstein, and others strove to depict the beauty of their world and find explanations to natural phenomena. Richard Eckersley wrote, “It doesn’t make evolutionary sense to believe humans lived in misery until we discovered technological progress.” When people did not realize the potential of technology, they lived their life in contentment. Once people became aware of the fact that they could perform tasks quicker with the newer technology, they began wanting more of it. Scientists began researching and conducting experiments to enhance the new inventions. As they found ways to produce items...
No technology has had a greater impact on the American life than the automobile. Where we live, how we work, and how we travel, what our landscape looks like, our environment have all been shaped by the automobile. There isn’t a better place that demonstrates the social, geographic, and political changes brought by the industry than Detroit, the motor city. Detroit was situated to be a center of the American automobile industry. All of the material that was needed to build was easily accessible to the city by the great lakes waterways and by rail. The automobile industry helped people with their everyday lives and changed the way people saw the world.
The Steam Engine “In the never-ending search for energy sources, the invention of the steam engine changed the face of the earth.” (Siegel, Preface) The steam engine was the principal power source during the British Industrial Revolution in the 18th century. The steam engine opened a whole new world for everyone. The steam engine maximizes production, efficiency, reliability, minimizes time, the amount of labor, and the usage of animals.
The invention of internal combustion engines in the early 19th century has led to the discovery of utilisation of cheap energy that is petroleum and this enabled the world to develop and progress into the modern world today. Humans were able to accomplish more work done with little manual labour, using internal combustion engines powered by fossil fuels. Internal combustion engine are mechanical power devices that convert heat energy to mechanical energy with the combustion process taking place in a system boundary (Rolle, 2005). Among the internal combustion engine invented in the 19th century were the Otto engine, Diesel engine and gas turbine engine. Gas turbine engine is one of the popular engines used today due to its high torque per weight ratio relative to other types of internal combustion engines. As explained by Cengel and Boles (2011), the gas turbine engine works on a 6 stages process, namely air intake, compression, fuel injection, combustion, expansion and exhaust (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).

The jet engine is a great mechanical piece of engineering. It has been used in almost all aircraft since its invention. This one improvement in aircraft allowed aircraft to fly higher, faster, and more efficient. The turbocharged engine invented by GE was the main building block for other engines. Since its invention, the jet engine has been the workhorse for all jet powered aircraft.
Technology is one of the groundbreaking inventions humans have come up with. Technology nowadays is so broad there are thousands upon thousands of companies out there with their only intention is to make better technology. Back when it first came out they thought it was going to evolve extremely fast and flying cars would be out in 30 years and such. It’s not evolving at an extraordinary rate, but it’s still evolving at an extremely fast rate.
