The company was founded by Harland Sanders and it is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands Company that also owns the Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant chains.
In 1930, Sanders opened his first restaurant in a small room in a gas station in Corbin, Kentucky and called it “Sanders Court & Café”. He used to prepare the chicken in an iron skillet, which took about 30 minutes to do but in 1993, he started using the pressure fryer to reduce the cooking time and serve it to his customers faster. Years later, KFC franchise was opened in Utah in 1952. By the mid-1960s, KFC became one of the first fast food companies to expand on an international level in all of England, Mexico and Jamaica leading England to be the very first KFC overseas outlet in the world. In 1964, Sanders sold the entire KFC franchising operation and since that time, the chain has been sold three more times: to Heublein in 1971, to R.J. Reynolds in 1982 and most recently to PepsiCo in 1986.
KFC is known for its slogan “Finger lickin’ good” that has later been replaced by “Nobody does chicken like KFC “and “So Good “.

The constituents of this recipe represent a notable secret that only few people know about and which they signed strict confidentiality contracts to keep it a secret.KFC also offers grilled and roasted chicken products, side dishes and desserts.
