In just 2017 alone, about 252,710 women were diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is a life changing illness; it does not only affect the person with it, but it can affect the people around them. All the people who survive breast cancer have the fight and motivation to overcome it. My friend Dylan's mom Marta had breast cancer but fought like a champ and overcame it. Marta’s strength during her battle was very inspiring to all of the people around her.

When I am out having fun, playing sports and with my friends I don't even think about the people that are in the hospital battling diseases or illnesses. Especially breast cancer patients like Marta. On average, around 41,000 people will die from breast cancer this year. All of those people, and all of the people that got diagnosed with breast cancer, are in the hospital battling to beat it while I'm on the easy life do what I like and want. I need to look at those people and be thankful that I am healthy unlike all these people with breast cancer. She would never miss any hockey games even if she wanted to, but when she did not show up to a couple I knew it must not had been going well. She had to have been going through a tough time. Even when she came to the games she looked great even though she wasn't. Marta was externally the same exact person she was before she had breast cancer and when she had it. When we would be out to eat at a restaurant she would be laughing and having fun with all the other parents like she was perfectly fine.
