Group #: 2 Student Name: Jackie Rivera Film Title: Boyz n the Hood Summary Boyz n the Hood (directed by John Singleton) is about a young man named Trey Styles who originally starts off living with his mother until he gets in trouble at school, so she forces him to live with his father in the inner city. The movie then fast forwards seven years later, Tre’s father (Furious) teaches Trey how to be a man as well as instilling in him how not to be a part of the vicious cycle of violence. In the movie Tre and his best friend Ricky are portrayed to be very clean cut (academically focused) while Ricky’s half brother, Doughboy and his friends are trouble makers. In response to Ferris, Doughboy flashes his gun to the group to scare them off, but shortly after, Ferris and his crew then fired a round making everyone flee the scene in panic. The next day, Ricky and Doughboy get into a fight causing Ricky to leave with Tre to the store, on their way back Tre and Ricky spot Ferris and his crew and decide it would be best to split up. As they were fleeing in opposite directions, Ferris sees Ricky and shoots him just seconds after Doughboy arrived on scene. Feeling revengeful, Tre, Doughboy, and his crew decide to seek out Ferris to murder him, as they were on hunt for Ferris, Tre realizes that he is contributing to the cycle and decides to get out of the car and goes home.
