Teenagers often experience negative and positive encounters in life. Some of these encounters result in Isolation; the fear of being alone. Isolation is a teens worst fear when facing negative experiences. It is defined as being left out and alone. This may occur during loss of loved ones, being excluded by race or ------------. These factors are what lead to low self- worth, shame, loneliness, depression, and other mental health concerns. The loss of loved ones is always traumatizing. When teens lose someone who is very close to them, they immediately feel isolated and alone. The event causes teens to think that they have nobody else to be by them. Many people are not aware of how it still exists in everyday life and how much it affects a person. The message of (QUOTATIONS) Don't be racist (Quotation) is never taken into consideration. As teenagers grow up, they face a lot of racism in their lives. Some may choose to ignore it while other take it very personal to a point of being isolated. Author, Matthew Quick proved this point in the book (QUOTATIONS) Boy 21 (QUOTATIONS). Finley had lived in the town, Bellmont his entire life. This town was full of drugs, gangs and violence. Being one of the few white person in the town, he had always felt left out. Finley was very quiet and never spoke up so he became a very easy target to be racist towards. Since he was white and was able to play basketball, he was constantly made fun of. Many students in the book had very unique personality and they weren't treated badly because they were all black. This made Finley feel left out and isolated.
