Cavin, Aaron. "Blowout! Sal Castro & The Chicano Struggle For Educational Justice."Journal Of American Ethnic History 34.2 (2015): 127-128. America: History & Life. Web. 12 Sept. 2016.
My first source comes from a journal entry from the American Ethnic History. I thought it would be a reliable source because the author is taking information he gathered from the book “Blowout!” to write his journal. This article was very help in describing the Chicano educational struggle and their fight for justice with it by talking about one major incident that helped them get justice but also with who lead them to get their justice. It really helped strengthen my knowledge about the struggles the Chicanos went through to get justice. The journal really …show more content…

For my third source I used information from a book rather than a journal or a book review so I could get different information on the topic.
This source really focused on all the different types of struggles the Chicano people went through for their education. Such as being excluded from enrolling in public school institutions and special school programs. The source uses pathos by describing that at some schools they would only speak English, something the Chicano people didn't know, and sharing their struggles with going to school not knowing the language, the author really grabs the audience attention with this because it makes you think about the Chicano's people's emotions about going to schools not being able to understand anything when they are there to get an education and shows the suppression of Spanish in the schools by being …show more content…

"Chicano Education in the Era of Segregation." Google Books. N.p., n.d. Web. 13 Sept. 2016.
For my fourth source I looked at the chapter of The Education of Chicano Children starting on page 203. This chapter was very helpful because it helped understand the continuity and change between the Chicano children and their education. I found the author of the book to be credible because he discusses his study thoroughly as well as describing what he looked into to find these changes between the Chicano children and their education.
The author uses pathos to describe how Chicano children were denied an equal educational opportunity even if they went to segregated schools. This will be helpful in my research because it shows that Chicano children never got the chance of a good education even if they went to the schools that spoke their language and discussed their culture. The author uses ethos by naming off specific dates in history into which affected Chicano children. For example in 1975 Texas Legislators voted to deny the right of an education to a child of a undocumented workers. This is helpful for my research by providing that even though some students went to school and didn't get the best education some students weren't even allowed to attend schools because of their family. It also helps show that many years after the blow outs when Chicanos were trying to get justice for their education they are still struggle with more and more laws being made into affect.
