A dear celebrity, Demi Lovato, spoke up about being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder.“I realized that bipolar disorder may be part of my life, but isn’t who I am” (Demi Lovato). Bipolar Disorder is also known as manic-depressive illness, which is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks.( Bipolar disorder statistics). Individuals living with bipolar disorder have the common concern of letting their symptoms impact daily life along with those around them, because it inhibits social interaction. I am going to inform you about the affects of bipolar disorder and what it looks like.
According to Rick Nauert PhD, a new online survey finds that individuals living with bipolar disorder, their greatest concern is that their symptoms will impact daily life, such as family, relationships, or a job. Further looking into these online studies it showed that in usual situations about 9 in 10 patients, which would be 90 percent, said that they have either canceled social gatherings or they avoided the gathering all together do to their Bipolar Depression. A study shows that 3 out of 4 people with bipolar disorder say that they know they are about to have a period of mania due to their sleeping problems. (Asbury, T). During periods of mania many patients will be so aroused that they could go for days without any sleep and not feel tired the next day. People diagnosed with bipolar disorder may also be affected by the eating problems such as loss of appetite and weight loss, or even over eating and weight gain.
