The Smithsonian is opening a new museum, the National Museum of African American History and Culture in the National Mall and they plan to feature a section dedicated to Bill Cosby and his work, but now it is being updated with the recent events in his life. According to the April 1, 2016, the Smithsonian’s exhibit will include several references to the accusations of sexual assault made against Bill Cosby.
In a statement released by the director of the museum, Lonnie G. bunch, “Visitors will leave the exhibition knowing more about Mr. Cosby’s impact on American entertainment, while recognizing that his legacy has been severely damaged by the recent accusations.”
Many people wanted the things to do with Bill Cosby removed from the Smithsonian because of the women who have come against him claiming that he sexually assaulted them. However, the museum

This museum seeks to tell, in the words of the eminent historian John Hope Franklin, “the unvarnished truth” that will help our visitors to remember and better understand what has often been erased and forgotten.“
In the section dedicated to Bill Cosby, they plan to have two items, the cover of Cosby’s comedy album and a comic book, “I Spy.” The information about the items was going to be about his career of television and comedy, and they were not going to include his latest sexual scandal. However, when so many people contacted the museum asking them to omit Bill Cosby all together, they decided to do something different.
“Like all of history, our interpretation of Bill Cosby is a work in progress, something that will continue to evolve as new evidence and insights come to the fore. Visitors will leave the exhibition knowing more about Mr. Cosby’s impact on American entertainment, while recognizing that his legacy has been severely damaged by the recent
The play “Permanent Collection” focuses on an African-American man who has just taken over an art museum named Sterling North. While digging through storage, he finds eight African sculpture pieces and wants to add them to the collection at the Morris Foundation on the campus of a college. The Director of Education Paul Barrow is hanging on to the words of Mr. Morris and his vision because he doesn’t want anything to change at the museum according to Mr. Morris’ will, which contributes to the title of the play “Permanent Collection.”
The victim stating the allegations which caused Bill Cosby arrest had settled out of court in 2006 for $150,000 that was the time she should have had him prosecuted. I believe this victim decided in 2006 to take the money and now in 2016 she wants everyone to feel sorry for her. I guess the victim felt $150,000 was going to wash away the emotion she was feeling in 2004 when her alleged sexual assault taken place. I am not stating he is innocent, however many of these women decided to stay silent while each one was gaining fame from Bill Cosby, now that the fame has gone, lets embarrassing him because he has money, I am glad the statute of limitation has ran out on the alleged sexual assault and

You left the museum feeling enlightened and with a captivating story to tell others. The Nazi Regime capitalize on societies anxieties about sexuality to dehumanize homosexuals. Societies opinions on sexuality directly correlated with the actions taken by the Nazis regime.
As the tour of the museum began, it was easily noticed that all of the objects on display were placed behind thick glass cases. Many plaques inside of the case provide the visitor with information about the specific case that is being looked at. In most cases the plaques didn’t so much provide an elaboration on the pieces, but rather expand upon the historical context of the pieces. Also, the plaques shed light onto muc...
America’s dad, Bill Cosby, rose to popularity in 1965 first with his role in the espionage series “I Spy”, which made him the first black actor to star in a dramatic role on network television (biography.com, 2016). Following that role came what many considered some of his most successful work in “The Cosby Show” which aired on NBC from 1984 to 1992 (biography.com, 2016). The show was reportedly the highest-rated sitcom for five consecutive years (biography.com, 2016). But, people’s discourse does not echo excitement around the once admired television dad or Cosby’s other accomplishments now. Instead, people have decided to discuss the sexual assault allegations being leveled against him from more than 50 women. Media outlets, some more than
Ennis Cosby, Bill Cosby only son was shot to dead changing a tire in a California Highway. Also, Autumn Jackson claimed that Cosby was his paternity father and claimed 40million dollars so she wouldn’t say anything to the media. Cosby admitted that he had an affair with Autumn’s mother, but he claimed that she wasn’t his daughter. She went to prison for 26 months for extortion. This was not the worst thing that happened to Cosby. In 2014, comedian Hannibal Buress brought new attention to an earlier case against Cosby for sexual harassment. More than 50 women open in the same year about Cosby having any type of sexual assault towards them within his lifetime. “The snowball effect led to court records from Constand’s first complaint being unsealed in the summer of 2015—including a deposition in which Cosby admitted to drugging women he wanted to have sex with. In December, Cosby was formally charged with aggravated indecent assault”. Hillar Busis, 2016 (Bibliography.com,
...an picking the artifacts. Although I did learn about William Morris and his designs in my history classes I learnt about the concept behind his design decisions and in depth analysis of Morris’s evolution as a designer only when I started working on this exhibit. It is imperative that you do research before arriving on any decision in regard to putting up any exhibit. Furthermore after analyzing the different options, it is imperative that you have facts to back up your decisions of the artifacts chosen. Every artifact that you pick for your case should have direct relation to your concept and it should be consistent among all artifacts. Overall a lot of thought should be put into the exhibit and the concept must reflect the ideas distinctly.
The concept of mankind being both good and evil, or that “man is not truly one, but truly two,” applies to many things and can be observed to be true in multiple modern examples. Bill Cosby is an actor and comedian who has spread laughter and entertainment among many people for years. Through the years 1984 to 1989, the sitcom that Bill produced and starred in, “The Cosby Show”, was ranked as the top show in America. In addition to doing good by providing entertainment, he has also negatively affected many as well. Bill has been accused by over sixty women of terrible things such as rape, drug facilitated sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and sexual misconduct. Cosby has not yet been convicted, but his trial is expected to start on June 5, 2017. Bill Cosby’s situation is a
The first exhibit I saw was the “It Ain’t Braggin’ if it’s True” (one of my friends told me I had to see the shrine to Lance Armstrong and the rhinestone car). The name of the exhibit didn’t make much sense to me though; aren’t all museum exhibits, especially ones about history, supposed to be true? The big banner in the middle of the room didn’t help much either. It simply said “Vision” and had a quote about how only those with great vision can see opportunity where others see empty space. Maybe those who have this type of vision get the braggin’ rights?
Sources say “The once-beloved comedian today says that Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis, and Angela Leslie cost him his comeback. In a court documents Monday, the widely accused Bill Cosby asserts he “neither drugged nor sexually assaulted” the seven women. In fact, Cosby now is suing them back in federal court in Massachusetts for a wide range of damages and injunctions — including publicly “retracting and correcting” their accusations of sexual assault. And he is convinced it was their words and actions that cost him high-profile gigs on NBC and Netflix”(Patten.3). Cosby is claiming that these women not only slandered his name to the public, but they did it in hot pursuit of him losing his contracts with Netflix and NBC. Cosby also claims that he never sexually assaulted or drugged any of these seven women listed here and seeks punitive damages for the troubles he’s faced since these women have made their claims. The women not only assassinated Bill’s character, but did it in an attempt to increase their networth and relevance. Bill still fights a list of charges, and we still await on the Courts order, but hopefully justice will be served and the real crooks behind this will be exposed and punished for such a horrible plan to ruin another African-Americans name and
One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
What a sensation was made about the Sensation exhibition in the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The focus of Mayor Giuliani’s outcry was the piece “The Holy Virgin Mary” by Chris Ofili. Funny, he didn’t give attention to some of the other outrageous works including the pubescent female mannequins studded with erect penises, vaginas, and anuses, fused together in various postures of sexual coupling, or the portrait of a child molester and murder made from what appears like child hand prints or bisected animals in plexiglass tanks full of formaldehyde. Would it ever have made headlines with a different title, like “Afro-lady”? I don’t think so. I guess targeting religion gets a little too personal. Giuliani said, “You don’t have the right to government subsidy for desecrating somebody else’s religion. If you are a government-subsidized enterprise, then you can’t do things that desecrate the most personal and deeply held views of people in society.” You would think that the government paid these artists, right? It turns out that the show consisted of Charles Saatchi’s privately owned collection VIEWED in a public museum. So what does that mean to you? Well, when I found out that tidbit of information, it didn’t seem so offensive anymore. Taxpayers didn’t pay these young British artists to create controversial pieces. Taxpayers fund the museum itself to stay open. Museums have a variety of exhibitions all year. What is wrong with having one displaying a private collection? This is a common thing with museums. Otherwise, how would the public ever get to view extensive artistic compilations of the wealthy? Some collections are beautiful, others perturbing. But, who draws this line? Who gets to decide? The individual. If you do not want to submit your eyes to horrendous, offensive creations, then don’t!
During the 2004 NAACP awards ceremony at Washington, D.C., in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the landmark case Brown vs. Board of Education , Bill Cosby delivers a speech, which would be subsequently referred to as “The Pound Cake Speech, criticizing the lifestyle and lack of parenting in the African–American community. The speech has been severely criticized for it is delivery and topics expressed within it. Author Jerome Corsi notes, "Cosby was attacked both for his flippant tone and because his argument appeared to 'blame the victim' for the racial inequality and racial injustice suffered." The purpose of this essay is to examine why the use of comedy, partitioning of listeners, and scapegoating of African-American parents, as the sole cause of African-American social problems, lead to the poor reception of Cosby's speech.
The United States has always prided itself on being a free country that values its first amendment. Many people agree that the most important right in the United States constitution is a citizen’s right to freely express him or herself. The problem in this situation is that people also value living in a country without fear of being offended. Our laws are created to protect one’s self as well as others. So, it is important to attempt to meet everyone’s needs as much as is possible in a free society. Dennis Barrie, director of Contemporary Arts Center of Cincinnati, was indicted and eventually acquitted for the exhibition of photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe, depicting nudity and human bondage. In 1991 Barrie spoke of the events surrounding the situation at the seventy-ninth annual convocation of the College Art Association in a speech called “The Scene of the Crime”. When Barrie described the day that the police entered the museum to remove the photographs he makes an important point, “More than anything, that image—that image of policeman in uniforms pushing patrons out of a museum because of what is on the walls—is the image that’s going to haunt me for the rest of my life. Because that isn’t our country, or it shouldn’t be our country” (Barrie 30).
