Bid-Day

There is a point in everyone’s life where they go through an event that impacts their life in a tremendous way. Sometimes it only happens once, some experience it later in life and some might experience multiple “awakenings”. I personally have gone through an event that impacted my life and how I view life; however, I did not realize the impression it had on my out look on life when it happened. Almost two months later I understood how it affected me.

All throughout my high school I was active in my church’s youth group: where I traveled to other countries, exposed to Godly leaders and a loving community. Once I started a new chapter in my life, college, I started questioning the church and drifted away from my faith. The only organization I wanted to be a part of was Greek Life. I was set in rushing Alpha Tau Omega with my best friend Davis. Davis and I went to every single rush event talking

Finally, months of kissing up and persuading members that I would be great fit for the fraternity, bid-day arrived. Bid-day is when the fraternity extends their invitation to join their group, and it just so happen to fall on my birthday that year. For bid-day we were told to go into our rooms after class and wait for an ATO member to give us our invitation, and if no one came by 3 then you were not accepted into the fraternity. Right after class I ran to my dorm room and waited. All that time I was waiting a small part of me thought there was a chance that I could not get an offer. It was a quarter till three and still no one came to my room, then I received a call. The call was from the president of the fraternity, he told me to come down to my dorms lobby.
